On the 24th of November as a hub, we said farewell to our year 9 students before they transitioned into the Malgobila building for their senior years of schooling. The video montage was a highlight for us all, to see how far students have come.
This time of year is always bitter sweet in the hub because we’re sad to say goodbye to the faces we’ve got to know, but we are excited to welcome the year 7 students as they transition into year 8.
We are so pleased with how the transition period is going, we are emphasising routine and structure and aim for all students to be: in class, on time, on task and giving everything a go - we have seen a lot of this. Moving into new classes and getting to know new faces is always a bit scary for all, staff included, but we’re blown away by the resilience and strong work ethic we’ve seen everyday.
We are looking forward to ending the transition period positively with all students and continuing to work and support them in 2024.
There will be a BBQ and some games on Friday 15th December to celebrate the last day of formal classes for 2023!
The 8/9 Hub Team.
Students in year 9 Forensic Science practised their problem-solving skills to determine who the killer was from a list of suspects. They tested urine samples from the suspects and an unknown sample from the crime scene – the killer’s – for pH, protein, and glucose. From this, they concluded that Suspect B was the killer!
Congratulations to our top students in year 8 and 9 for 2023.
You continued to show all 3 values within the College.
Well done! 😁

Toby, Ethan, Clay and Brodie were given an opportunity to go through the process of building outdoor furniture to give back to the new Bairnsdale Ambulance Station. Over 4 weeks, the boys went through the stages of designing, planning and building the table and chairs with the help of Tony from Bunnings. Last week, they were able to hand over their creation, much to the delight and appreciation of the paramedic staff. A big thanks goes to Tony for giving our students the opportunity to be involved in this, and allowing them to be involved in giving back to the community.
