Year 1/2 Cluster News Term 4 Week 6
Please apply sunscreen andensure hats and water bottles are sent to school every day.
Swimming notes have been sent home. Please make sure you complete all pages before returning them to school. Swimming lessons are is Tuesday – Friday in Week 8.
Library No borrowing from Monday 27th November.
Home Inquiry – Use a catalogue to make a short shopping list with whole dollar amounts. Can you work out the total? Can you work out change?
Take home books - There are changes being made which will be communicated with you shortly.
Sound of the week - See the weekly sound and spelling list below. Students can practise these in a variety of ways (look, say, cover, write, check, chalk, whiteboard writing, magnetic letters - be creative!) The aim is to practise the words both by writing and orally. Have a go at brainstorming other words that have the same sound.
Literacy:
In Readers Workshop, students will continue to develop comprehension strategies including making connections, predicting, inferring, questioning, monitoring, visualising, summarising.
In Writers Workshop, students will be continuing narrative writing.

Maths Focus:
Year 1 and Year 2 students will continue to use, revise and extend their understanding of repeated addition and groups (multiplication), money and time.

LOI 3: Things that have changed over time
Students learnt a lot about toys from the past during the incursion and will continue to build on their understanding before considering: was people’s wellbeing better in the past or now?
