Principal's Post

Dear Families,

It's half way through Term Three and the Spring weather certainly came early last week. It was wonderful to see so many students able to play on our grassed oval and lower area.

Book Week Celebrations

This morning we held our biennial Book Week Dress Up Parade. It was magnificent to see the variety of costumes on display as students and staff dressed up as scenes or characters from various books. This week provides a timely reminder to keep encouraging the love of books and the love of reading in all members of our community.

We need  volunteers to cover some library books. Jo has prepared book bags in the library. Everything you need to cover them is included, so you can cover them at home and drop them back. If you have some time, please grab a bag of books to cover. It would be greatly appreciated.

Maria Ruberto - Parent Evening

Wednesday 28th August

This is an evening not to be missed! Please RSVP via the Operoo form sent out on 9th August and book the babysitter!!

We have over 130 parents attending so far!

Maria Ruberto’s work is dynamic, interactive and spirited. Her application of psychology is anchored by research in neuroscience and brain function – and framed by the science of optimism.

A psychologist with 30 years of clinical and industry experience, Maria will be sharing information about emotional responses and ways parents can manage their own and their child’s response in situations that help develop their child’s resilience. Maria will explore reasons why resilience is critical for their development in the near and long term future. While Maria will be presenting new information, she will also be making relevant connections to the previous session she held last year at St James.

For those who are interested in a sneak preview, check out her recent appearance on The Imperfects podcast. https://theresilienceproject.com.au/at-home/podcasts/

MACSSIS Surveys

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools – School Improvement Surveys (MACSSIS) will be conducted during 28 August – 15 September 2023. We are asking all families to take the 15 - 20 mins required to fill out the survey and provide us with feedback about many aspects to our St James school community. To encourage all families to complete the survey, we will be offering children a free Friday treat (paid for by the school) on the final Friday of Term Three.

Emir will send home a link to the surveys with an individual family login code.

The surveys are totally anonymous and while we can see the completion rate we cannot see individual results at all.
