Olympics Expo

Students in the Senior Team are in full swing researching, collating and presenting information about the Olympics and history of a specific country. This forms a core part of our inquiry unit this term and also links closely to our literacy and numeracy curriculum. Families will be invited to attend our expo on Wednesday 11th September when students will present their work in the gym. In previous years our Term 3 expo's have been a highlight of our year in 5/6 and, looking at the work taking place, we are confident this year will be no different!

MCG and Melbourne Sports Museum Excursion

Date:  Monday 16th September

To support and celebrate our Term 3 Inquiry studies of sport, culture and the history of the Olympics, students from 5/6L, 5/6M and 5/6P will be visiting the home of the 1956 Olympics, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). On the day, students will participate in a guided 60-minute tour of the famous stadium, where students will gain an insight into Melbourne’s sporting culture as they hear from proud MCC volunteers. Additionally, students will also visit the Australian Sports Museum, which is a self-guided experience full of interaction and exploration. More information will be sent home next week.

Students attending Daylesford Secondary School

We are aware many families have recently received information regarding bus transport to Daylesford Secondary College for 2025. While Ballan Primary have no direct involvement in this process, we understand that this is an important part of the transition process and can cause a few challenges for families making arrangements.

As many families are in a similar position, we would like to offer the chance to connect members of our community who may be able to support each other with travel arrangements next year. If you are interested, and are happy for your details to be shared with other families with children enrolled to attend Daylesford, please forward your contact details to Liam Petersen by emailing liam.petersen@education.vic.gov.au. We will then collate the contact list and distribute to families wishing to stay in touch next year.

Melbourne Renegades Roadshow

We are looking forward to the Melbourne Renegades Cricket Team visiting Ballan PS for the 2024 Renegades Roadshow. Ahead of their visit they are requesting families complete the image consent form below if you are happy for photos to be taken.

Junior Years

It's been a very exciting week in the P-2 team this week. On Tuesday the 1/2s held an Open Morning where families were able to come along and see part of our Literacy block in action. The students enjoyed showing off their Heggerty skills and beautiful handwriting. It was so lovely to welcome our families into the classroom. We hope to hold something similar again later in the year.

On Wednesday the school yard was overrun by tiny Grandparents, as the Prep students celebrated their 100th Day of School! Everyone looked amazing and it brought so much joy to the whole school community. What a huge milestone for our youngest learners. It was a big day of celebration, and so wonderful to reflect on how far our Prep students have come in 100 days of learning!
