Mr. Carlyle's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Thank you Mrs. Hunter

This week we bid farewell to a much-loved member of staff Mrs. Hunter, who after many years inspiring and nurturing the artistic hearts and minds of our students is beginning a new professional chapter.  Mrs. Hunter will be greatly missed by our whole school community, and we wish her all the very best in her next chapter.  We will miss you.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to all of our families for attending the Parent Teacher interviews. The day was fantastic with staff and families engaging in positive and rich conversations about learning.  It was great to personally touch base with many families, and hear about the pride in their childs journeys.

Principal Conference

Last week, I attended the Annual Principal’s Conference in Melbourne. The theme of this year’s conference was “Leading together: inspire, learn, network”. This theme was obvious throughout the keynote presentations and workshops. It also focused heavily on the State Government's commitment to best practices in literacy.  Education Minister Ben Carrol addressed the conference around future changes to state reading programs.  Many of these initiatives Ballan Primary School have introduced in the past 18 months.

Parent Opinion Survey

We want to know what our parent community thinks of Ballan Primary School. Last week, we posted to Xuno a message inviting all families to participate in the Parent Opinion Survey. The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. The survey is optional, but we encourage and appreciate your participation.

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies.

Curriculum Day - September 2

Also, a reminder that our Term 3 curriculum day is scheduled for Monday, September 2, and is a student-free day.

Celebrating 150 years

This year Ballan Primary School will be celebrating its 150th year.   In November this will see us hosting a community event that will merge with our Fete.  The Parents and Friends Group is seeking anyone who would be interested in being a part of the organisation of this event.  Or to help out or volunteer their time in any way, as Teamwork makes the Dream Work! You can reach out to me or the school, if you feel like you could contribute, or if you have a fantastic idea for something we could add to the celebrations.
