Art Show
Bonjour!!! What a wonderful Art Show we had last week!
Our Theme, “Take me To Paris,” was a perfect opportunity to showcase the talents of our St. Monica’s artists. We have been studying some of the great French Artists, Grades 3-6 went on excursion to the Bendigo Art Gallery to see the Paris Exhibition and of course, the Olympics were in Paris! So there has been an abundance of Art and people in action, that has linked in beautifully with this year's theme.
We also managed to incorporate our STEM program, as the 5/6 students got creative and clever, using many different materials to build their own Eiffel Towers.
There have been many people that have helped in a variety of ways and volunteered their time. A very big thank you to a dedicated team of parents namely Team Kath and Kim, Jo and Aimee, who helped in preparation for the Art Show.
An extra special mention and thanks to Bill, who volunteered for two days as we set the Art Show up. Bill helped tirelessly, with many different jobs and became an expert curator as the show came together.
There were also many staff that came over to the Jaara Centre and gave up some of their own time to help and support us with the Art Show. An extra special thankyou to you as I know how busy everyone is. A special mention to Mrs Warren and Mrs Knight, who also teach Art and STEM and helped to inspire and encourage the students and collate the Art Show.
The Art Show was a huge success and we had so many families come through to admire the work. It was lovely seeing and hearing the excitement of the students as they proudly showed off their own work and also took the time to see what other students have made. There will even be articles in the Bendigo Advertiser and our diocesan newspaper, The Sandpiper, for the wider community to see the wonderful artistic talents of St. Monica’s students.
I have loved having the opportunity to showcase the creativity, imagination and talents of our students through Art, and I look forward to our next one in the future.
Thanks Mrs Stokes.
Dragon Dance - Lauren Mitchell visits grade 2's
Grade 2's were delighted to have a surprise visit from Lauren Mitchell, local author of one of the classes favourite books, Dragon Dance. The students had written letters to Lauren earlier this year and had been eagerly awaiting a response, instead they received this special in person visit!
Lauren brought some of her favourite dragon watching props which are mentioned in the book.

Prep - School Nursing Program
Consent forms have been sent home with Prep students regarding the School Nursing Program.
If you wish for your child to participate, please tick yes on page 5 and complete the questionnaire regarding your child's health.
If you do not wish for your child to participate, please tick the NO on page 5.
So either way you need to complete the paperwork and please return by the end of this term.
School Phone Numbers
It has been noted that when the office has been calling parents, the call is coming from a different number than that saved in your phones so calls are going unanswered.
It is advised that the following numbers be added to your address books as possible school numbers.
(03) 5447 7832
(03) 4433 2719
Hats
We are a SunSmart School and as of this week we will be encouraging students to wear hats when playing outside. As of Term 4 it will be a requirement for outside play.
Please make sure a clearly named hat comes to school next week and is kept at school or in your child's bag.
If you need to purchase a new hat please click the link below to order through CDF Pay or pop into the uniform shop on Thursday afternoon or Tuesday morning.
Fresh Fruit Friday
Thank you to Mckern Steel Foundation for our weekly delivery of fresh fruit.
Canteen
Orders must be placed by 9am Thursday Morning on CDF pay or cash in lunch order bag and lunch order bags placed in class tub.
Please note: the office cannot accept late orders over the phone.
Absent on lunch order day
If your child is going to to be away on a Friday and you have ordered a lunch order please call or email the office by 9.30am on Friday to notify of absence and to hold lunch order.
Absences are not automatically communicated to the canteen so lunch orders get made and will be wasted.
Sharing Money
Please talk to your children about bringing and sharing money on canteen days. This is not permitted as it is very difficult to monitor. Children are responsible for their own money and ideally they would have the correct amount for what they would like to purchase at break times but we know this is difficult to predict.
Please remember to supply a lunch order bag/container when you place a lunch order. Students place these bags in the lunch order tub in the classroom by 9am Thursdays and their lunch order will be packed in it on Friday. Please make sure it is clearly labeled with students name and class.
Lunch order wallets are available through the Uniform Shop for $12.
Uniform
Term 3 is Winter uniform.
Football/Netball Club hoodies are not part of our uniform. Please do not wear them to school.
There are lots of bomber jackets in lost property both at school and YMCA after school care. Please check lost property and be sure to label uniform items clearly so they can be returned to owners.
