Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
What an exciting week it has been at St. Patrick's School! This week we had our annual Italian day festival with lots of exciting activities to do. The day began with a parade and the children were also treated to a stage show in the hall. Special thanks to Signora Bassily our Italian Teacher for organising such a wonderful cultural immersion for our children. Special thanks also to Anna and the team in the canteen who prepared over 400 Italian themed lunches!
SRC Playground Work
It was amazing to see our SRC students giving feedback on the various Playground designs that we have comissioned by three separate playground companies. We are very near to finalising the preferred company and design which we will share in the coming weeks.
Year 6 Confirmation Retreat Day
On Tuesday this week, our Year 6 students visited the Mary MacKillop Centre in Fitzroy. The Sisters of St. Joseph, who were founded by Mary MacKillop, have a long-standing tradition of education in Victoria and South Australia. I, myself, was educated in a Sisters of St. Joseph Primary School—St. Brendan's in Lakes Entrance (many years ago). Please keep the Year 6 students in your prayers as they prepare for this important Sacrament of Initiation in just over two weeks' time.
St. Patrick's 2024 NAPLAN Results

Our Year 5 Data has come back very strong with our Year 3 data indicating some additional work to be focused on in Spelling and Grammar & punctuation, nevertheless some very pleasing results.
House Banners
Please see below the new house banners which will be hung up in the hall in the coming weeks. My thanks to the staff and Year 6 SRC students who assisted with feedback during the design process. Our next project will be to investigate designs for the new senior playground with the SRC students. Hopefully I will have a sneak peek of the potential designs for the newsletter next week.

School Closure Day
This coming Monday 19th August is a school closure day for St. Patrick's School. The teaching staff will be engaging in professional development focusing on the Smart Spelling program designed by Michelle Hutchison.
Year 4 Bike Ed Training
Our three week unit on Bike Ed has concluded with the Year 4 students. I am always amazed by how quickly students pick up the essential skills of bike riding. I am really looking forward to the Bike Ed Camp that will be on in Term 4. More information will follow about camp later this year!
Staff Baby News!
Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Daidone who are expecting their second child in early 2025. Mrs Daidone will continue in Year 3IM until the end of the year and will go on maternity leave in January. We wish them all the best during this exciting time in their lives.
Year 7 2026 Enrolment reminder
Just a reminder to Year 5 families that tomorrow - Friday 16th August - is the cut off date to enrol your child in Catholic Secondary Schools for the 2026 school year.
