Term 3 has been another busy term with lots of wonderful things happening in our school! We have celebrated our feast day, and the feasts of St Mary MacKillop and the Assumption. We have also celebrated First Holy Communion, Book Week, Father’s Day breakfast and prayer service and participated in the Public Speaking Competition, Stage 3 Netball Gala Day, Stage 2 Soccer Gala Day, Kate & Jol Temple author visit, Yr 6 RE Trivia day, excursions and incursions.
A huge thank-you to all of our students, to you the parents and our dedicated staff for making these events, and all the others we have held this term, a great success!
Learning
Amongst all of these events, the students have continued their learning. The effort of both the students and teachers towards learning has been shown in our NAPLAN results which came out earlier this term. St. Martha's school average was again above the national average in all tests for both Year 3 & Year 5! Some other highlights include :
Year 3 - 92% of students 'Strong' or 'Exceeding' for writing
- 90% of students 'Strong' or 'Exceeding' for numeracy
- 85% of students 'Strong' or 'Exceeding' for spelling
Year 5 - 100% of students who sat the test received 'Strong' or 'Exceeding' for reading
- 100% of students who sat the test received 'Strong' or 'Exceeding' for grammar &
punctuation
- 96% of students who sat the test received 'Strong' or 'Exceeding' for writing
Staff Development Days
A reminder that the following dates have been set aside for Staff Development Days next term:

Monday 18th November
The last day of school for students is Wednesday 18th December.
Summer Uniform
Students will return to school in Term 4 in their Summer uniform. Wearing correct school uniform (which includes a school hat!) shows pride in our school. The following is taken from the Parent Handbook. I thank you for ensuring that your child wears the correct uniform, with pride, during Term 4.

The school has a ‘No Hat, No Play Policy’, whereby students without a hat will be asked to sit down in a shaded area. Due to health regulations school hats should not be borrowed.
All students are to wear their hair in a neat and tidy manner at all times. All students with long hair, below collar length, are required to have their hair tied back. Scrunchies, ribbons or hair elastics are to be in either the uniform material, navy blue or white. No students are permitted to have coloured dye in their hair or severe haircuts or styles.
All students are permitted to wear the following items of jewellery to school: stud or small sleeper earrings – two earrings, only one in each ear. A wristwatch. If a chain or necklace is worn to school, it must remain under the uniform and out of sight at all times. No other items of jewellery are permitted to be worn to school.
No student is permitted to wear make-up or nail polish to school.
If your child is not in full school uniform, a note of explanation is asked for as a matter of courtesy.
