House Cup - Last Day of Term 3 (20th September)

The Student Leadership Team has been busy organising the Highvale House Cup. This whole school event has not taken place since 2019, and the Year 12 captains have been keen to revive it. The purpose of the day is to build House spirit and strengthen connections between students in different year levels while engaging in some friendly competition.

Students will compete in House groups in different activities (trivia, tug of war and ‘guess that song’ to name a few) to earn points. At the end of the day, points will be tallied, and the House Cup will be awarded to the winning team.

Students are encouraged to dress in their House Colours: Bunjil (blue house), Marrum (red house), Kaan (green house) and Burrimul (yellow house).

Dear Teachers, Parents and Students,

As we gear up for the upcoming House Cup, we need your support in an important preparation task – collecting newspapers!

These newspapers will be used in activities during the event, so your contribution is crucial. Here’s how you can help:

  • Gather as many newspapers as you can.
  • Drop them off at the front office during school hours.

Your efforts will help ensure our team is well-prepared for the House Cup.

Thank you for your support!

MND Ice Bucket Challenge - By Arjun M. Year 7 – SRC Member

Wednesday, 21st of August 2024 was an exciting day for the Highvale community. It was the day of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It was incredibly cool to watch students take a shot at goal and dunk buckets of ice on different teachers’ heads on the Basketball courts!

The money that we collected from the Ice Bucket Challenge is being donated to the MND (Motor Neuron Disease) Australia Foundation to help develop a cure for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). All together, we raised $788.20 towards MND/ALS Australia! Great work Highvale!!

It was great to see so many students in Blue taking part in this event and helping us raise funds for this disease. A big thank you to all our teachers who braved the cold with a smile. It was indeed a ‘Fun event- with a Purpose’.

A special thanks to the entire SRC and the Year 12 Leadership team who made this event happen! We couldn’t have done it without all of you! Overall, the Ice Bucket Challenge was a huge success, and we look forward to organising and participating in similar events in the future at Highvale! Secondary College!

Highvale's Got Talent - By Junior Music Captains Sheena L. and Zhi Han C.

On Wednesday the 14th of August, Highvale held Highvale’s Got Talent. The year 7’s to 12’s were all gathered on the blue basketball courts watching contestants showcase their unique talents. From singing and dancing, to instrumental performances, the event was a showcase of skill and passion capturing the attention of the whole school. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as students cheered on their peers. These performances were scored by our lovely judges: Mr Miller, Ms Patti, and Miss Singh. The audience was also filled with support, cheers and firing passion. It was very exhilarating.

The talent show resulted with:

1st: Hannah L. and Sky X. (Year 12)

2nd: Christopher P. (Year 8), Betty W. (Year 11) and Benson Z. (Year 11)

Thanks to all the performers, teachers, SRC and helpers who made this event possible and a success!

Congratulations to all the participants for their fantastic performances, it was really great to see so many students being engaged with the show.
