Art and Technology Exhibition
‘ KALEIDOSCOPE of VISIONS’, was the theme for our amazing ‘Visual Arts & Technology Exhibition’ this year. The ground floor of the Helen Toohey Building was transformed into a gallery space with the colours, shapes and lights of a Kaleidoscope to highlight the creative visions of our talented students. The exhibition was a great success and it was wonderful to see our Killester College community join together to celebrate the achievements of our students.
The exhibition featured a diverse range of student work from all year levels showcasing their talents and unique perspectives.
Visual Art works, included creative ceramic birds, crazy critters and magical ceramic ‘Spiritual beings’. Ethically sourced reclaimed 3D sculptures, vibrant macro visions of nature in both manual and digital paintings, striking large-scale pencil works featuring inspirational women and small drawings of delicate birds. Black and white manual photography and clever colourful digitally Photoshopped ‘Cat Art’, together with and lino and serigraph digital printmaking. Visual communication design works in both manual and digital methods from ‘Mini Me’ characters with big personalities, mugs and packaging, logos and visual identity in graphic design, skillfully designed chocolate hot pots in product design, innovative architecture and web pages in interactive design. A special mention must go to all our VCD students who impressed us all with their creativity and skills in producing amazing folios of work and final presentations.
In the Technology program, students showcased a range of textile and fashion projects, including ½ scale and full-scale toiles, pyjamas, and Audrey Hepburn-inspired dresses, along with various VCE garments that highlighted intricate sewing techniques and innovative designs. The materials work encompassed timber and plastics, featuring large-scale ‘flipped’ furniture, as well as detailed individual pencil cases and chopping boards. Digital Technology projects included infographics, multimedia presentations, and films. The delicious food prepared and served by the VCE VET Cookery students was a hit with all the guests that evening. All the food was prepared over the school week from recipes chosen by the students. It showcased the depth of skills that the Year 11/12 students have learnt in their cookery classes.
All our students should all be very proud of their achievements.
In closing, this year has been a remarkable journey of creativity and achievement and I would like to express my sincere thanks and gratitude to our dedicated and creative Visual Arts teachers who continually inspire and guide our students. Their passion and commitment has been instrumental in nurturing the creative journey of every student.
Appreciation also extends to our hardworking Technicians whose help is invaluable to ensure an enriching environment for our young artists and designers.
