Book week is coming!

Week 7, 22-28 August 2026

Well, as if this term wasn't jam-packed enough—book week is coming! That's right, once the production costumes have been hung up, we can settle down into a cosy week of celebrating Australian children's literature. 

• we will read the CBCA shortlisted books (you can get a head start at Story Box hub)*
• our PFA hosts its annual read-a-thon
• Kids can enter our design-a-bookmark competition (templates available from the library) 
• our Spanish community and sub-committee and have been planning something wonderful for our students
• we enjoy lots of bookish activities and surprises
• we will have class special visits from authors, Julianne Negri, Nat Amoore and Nova Weetman, who will stoke our passion for language and story 
• and then, to close it all off, we will have a dress-up parade at 2.30PM on Friday, 28 August! 

So, perhaps this week-end you might have a chat to your child about which characters have resonated with them and who they might like to dress up as, or if they don't feel confident to dress up they could make a lanyard featuring a favourite book or character and I would so love to hear all about their choice.

CBCA Book Week presents an opportunity to really honour stories and storytellers; to focus on the importance of literacy and literature in our little people's lives—the parade is just the icing.
