Mid Term Three Report
Production Countdown & Daily Flexibility Our Grade 5 and 6 students have been hard at work rehearsing for our upcoming school production! Throughout this busy period, they have shown incredible flexibility as daily timetables and routines shifted to accommodate practice sessions.
We want to send a huge thank you to both our students and their families for your resilience, support, and patience during this time. We cannot wait to see all their hard work pay off on stage next week!
Athletics Day Highlights
Our students also had a fantastic time at Athletics Day! It was wonderful to watch them push themselves to achieve personal bests, cheer on their peers to keep trying, and bring maximum team spirit by loudly chanting for their house colors throughout the day.
Literacy: Persuasive Writing & Storm Boy In Literacy, students have been sharpening their persuasive writing skills. We have been examining persuasive texts, honing complex sentence structures, and using the TREE framework (Title, Reason, Explanation, Ending) to organize our arguments.
As part of this unit, classes have been reading Colin Thiele's Storm Boy, analyzing implicit meanings within the text and gathering inspiration to craft their own persuasive pieces.
Mathematics: Wrapping Up Units & Looking Ahead We have recently wrapped up our assessments on Time & Angles as well as Fractions, Decimals, and Percentages.
As we move into our final Mathematics unit of the year—Multiplication and Division—you can support your child at home by practicing basic times tables. Building this mental automaticity makes a huge difference when students tackle more complex problem-solving tasks in class.
Camp Reflection: Unforgettable Memories Finally, a massive thank you to all the Grade 5 and 6 students for making this year's camp such a rewarding experience for the teaching team!
From sharing games to watching students cheer on classmates who were stepping out of their comfort zones, it was a joy to see their camaraderie. Even when weather conditions forced us to alter our plans, the students demonstrated remarkable resilience and positive attitudes. We hope they carry these fond memories with them for years to come.
Graduation Fundraiser: Bunnings Sausage Sizzle!
Don't forget to pop down to Bunnings Preston tomorrow, Saturday 15th of August, to support our Graduation Committee fundraiser! We will be firing up the grills from 7:00 AM to cook up an iconic Aussie favorite—a classic Bunnings sausage sizzle, but served with a special Latino flair! Come down, taste the difference, and buy a sausage to help us raise funds for our upcoming Grade 6 Graduation.
Writers in Residence
Congratulations to Otis and Lennox, this week's Writers in Residence! Fantastic work! Otis has written a piece about the human impact on wildlife, and Lennox has written his opinion about video games in Spanish. Great work, both of you!
