Year Two - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
This week we continued our Mathematical Adventure in Paris and have played: Uni-towering, carpet bowls, exploring pictograms and creating our own games. It was very exciting to play these games with our families and peers. Next week we will be making some modifications to the games to improve them.
Next week we are learning...
Religious Education: We are learning about the visible image of God and the Feast of the Assumption.
Mathematics: We are looking at different strategies to solve multiplication and division problems. Including halving, doubling and sharing using manipulatives.
English: We will be looking at understanding that nouns represent people, places, things and ideas and include common, proper, concrete or abstract, and that noun groups/ phrases can be expanded using articles and adjectives. As well as recognising that capital letters signal proper nouns and commas are used to separate items in lists.

Auslan: This week we are completing our mid-cycle assessments on Unit 5.
Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: This term we are learning about gender identity and specifically the different roles and occupations associated with the genders. In Week 5 we have an incursion webinar with Kids Helpline where we look at resilience. You will have received a permission slip to complete for students to participate, please do so ASAP. In Week 5 it is also 'Upstanding: U have the POWER' week. Students will be participating in daily sessions.

Reminders
Book Week is coming up in a few weeks time (Week 6) with the theme 'Reading is Magic'. On Friday 23rd August we will be having our Book Week dress up and parade.
As part of our Integrated Unit on Performing Arts, we will be having an incursion on Thursday 5th September with a focus on World Dance. We will be looking at and taking part in different dance styles from across the world. Permission slips will be coming shortly to PAM. Please complete ASAP.
Just a reminder that while we are not a nut-free school, we have many students with allergies in our community, including one student with anaphylaxis. Please be conscious when packing lunch boxes.
As part of our Maths Olympic unit students have been developing their own game. Parents have the opportunity to come in and play these games with their children. Parents are invited to come to one of the following sessions:
Day 2: Monday 12th August 11:45-12:30
Day 3: Wednesday 14th August 11:45-12:30.
We understand that for many parents this may not be possible, so we will be sending home their created games to play with you so you don't miss the experience.
