Year Five - Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
Students have thoroughly enjoyed the Olympic games activities that they created as part of their Mathematical learning. We thank all those parents who came along and viewed the students games.
This weeks learning;
Mathematics: Fractions, Decimals & Percentages.
English: Tom Appleby – Convict Boy Class Novel. Students will be completing their Information report that they have been writing on Convict Settlement in Australia. We look forward to sharing the final completed report with you on Seesaw soon.
Religious Education: Preparation for our Mass on Thursday celebrating the Assumption of Mary with the Year 6 community.
SEL:In the leadup to our learning about the National Day of Action against Bullying & Violence students will take part in 10 minute activities each day exploring the concept of being an 'Upstander' and its power in our lives. In our whole class lesson the students will be building a definition of violence and its different examples throughout our daily lives, including digital environments.
Integrated Studies: As we begin to explore music, students will be listening and singing a variety of songs from different decades as well as musicals such as Mary Poppins and Annie. Keep your eyes open on Seesaw.

Reminders:
- Please send your student to school with fruit for brain food.
- Contact the School office or notify us through the SIMON EVERYWHERE App when your student is absent.
- Students are expected to be reading at a minimum 4 times a week for 15-20 minutes. They should be able to discuss with you what they have read. They need to ensure they are filling in their reading log on Google Classroom.
- Multiplication tables are important for our students to know quickly - practise, practise, practise!
- Book Week is coming up next week (Week 6) with the theme 'Reading is Magic'. On Friday 23rd August we will be having our Book Week dress up and parade. Start getting those costumes ready!
