Junior STEM is sharing the learning taking place in their class…
Our term 3 Junior STEM focus on Physical Science has started, and we are busy learning about motion, light, and sound.
The Preps are ‘On the Move’ using toys and objects to explore the force of push and pull and how this causes motion. To consolidate learning from throughout the term the prep students will be creating a super cute Push and Pull Puppet.
Year Ones are investigating natural and artificial light sources and how our eyes see objects around us. They are also learning how sound is produced by vibrations, and how it travels to our ears. Later in the term, students will be making their own sounds by designing and creating a musical instrument using recycled kitchen boxes and craft supplies.
Year Twos are investigating simple machines. They are exploring and identifying the physical forces of push, pull, gravity and friction and how these can affect the movement of an object. Students will be utilising all their new learnings to make a chain-reaction machine inspired by Rube Goldberg creations!
We are looking forward to continuing the fun in term 3 and exploring physical forces in Junior STEM!
