Students Versus Staff Netball Match Capped Off Term 2 with Fun and Festivity

The end of Term 2 was marked by an exciting and highly anticipated event: the Students Versus Staff Netball Match. Serving as a thrilling conclusion to the term, this match brought together the winning student netball team from our term's round robin tournament to take on our enthusiastic staff members.

On the day of the match, the school grounds buzzed with excitement as students from all year levels gathered to cheer on their peers and staff. The atmosphere was electric, with cheers and chants filling the air while Mr. Gill 's and Mrs Maestri’s lively commentary added to the excitement. The courts reverberated with disco tunes, setting the stage for an afternoon of friendly competition and camaraderie.

The match itself was fiercely contested, with both teams displaying skill and determination. Despite the students' spirited effort, the staff team managed to clinch victory in a closely fought contest. The final whistle marked the end of the game but sparked another round of jubilant cheers and applause from the entire school community.

As a spontaneous celebration erupted, students and staff joined together for an impromptu disco, dancing and celebrating the end of another successful term. It was a wonderful moment of unity and joy, highlighting the strong bond and sense of community that defines our school.

The Students Versus Staff Netball Match not only provided a thrilling sporting spectacle but also served as a fitting way to wrap up Term 2. It showcased the talents and teamwork of our students and staff while creating lasting memories for everyone involved. Here's to more moments of fun, teamwork, and celebration in the terms to come!

NAIDOC Week Celebrations - Blak, Loud and Proud!

Throughout the first few weeks of Term 3, our school will immerse itself in the vibrant celebrations of NAIDOC Week, honouring the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Held annually from the first to the seventh of July, NAIDOC Week is a national event that invites all Australians to engage with and learn about the enduring traditions of Australia's First Nations.

This year, our focus centred around the theme 'Keep the fire burning! Blak, Loud and Proud!', celebrating the indomitable spirit and identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Students and teachers alike embraced the theme wholeheartedly, participating in various activities that highlighted the cultural significance of NAIDOC Week.

Over the holiday break, we encouraged families to watch 'Welcome to Culture', a video that resonates deeply with this year's NAIDOC theme, celebrating the resilience and cultural richness of Indigenous Australians (Link: Welcome to Culture).

At our school, fostering cultural inclusion is a priority, and NAIDOC Week provided a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together in celebration. It was heartening to witness the enthusiasm and connectedness among our students as they engaged in learning about Indigenous culture through storytelling, discussions, and various educational activities planned for the term ahead.

As we reflect on the significance of NAIDOC Week, we encourage all families to continue the conversation at home, exploring together what they have learned about First Nations culture and the themes of NAIDOC Week. Victorian School Nursing Program (Primary)

Jody Daff, a Visiting Primary School Nurse from the Department of Education and Training, will be attending the school to conduct Foundation student health screening assessments and to see children in grades 1-6 as requested by teachers and parents and carers (only with parent or carer consent).

The purpose of the visit is to provide all Victorian school entry aged children with the opportunity to have a health screening assessment, to link children, families, and schools to services available in the community, and to provide information and advice about children’s health and wellbeing.

Parents and carers of students in grades 1-6, who request for their child to undertake a health screening assessment by the Visiting Primary School Nurse, must complete a Primary School Nursing Program Student Referral Form which is available at the school office. The completed Primary School Nursing Program Student Referral Form must be returned to the school office for collection by the Visiting Primary School Nurse.

We hope you enjoy a fantastic weekend.

Kind regards,

Adele Gregson and Sabrina George
