Our school is located on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. 

Community Engagement 

Lots of exciting Community Engagement events this term, keep an eye out for the COMPASS emails so you can get involved. 

Assembly 

Have you been to a school assembly? They are held each fortnight on Friday at 2.40-3.30pm. We try to be seated to get started on time, you are welcome to join us, taking a seat and enjoying performances, announcements, certificate presentations and finding out about what is happening at school. 

 

Our school celebrates the vast diversity of cultures that we have within our wonderful community. You will have received information about a celebration of indigenous culture, recognising NAIDOC Week (7-14th July) and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day (4th August).  Lisa Trevorrow is working with the students in Visual Art on an artwork inspired by Samuawgadhalgal artist Deb Belyea's artwork 'One Fire', students are working collaboratively to create our own unique representation of her artwork. Everyone is invited to attend our next assembly on August 23rd starting at 2.40pm.  The finished artwork will be unveiled along with a presentation on food that Torres Strait Islander people enjoy, a demonstration on how to de-husk a fresh coconut as it is a culturally significant food and an important ingredient in many dishes.

Playground upgrade 

If you have been dropping students off to school along Almond St and Ruth St this last two weeks you will have noticed the works happening on the corner. We have a brand-new playground for our Year 3/4 students. Once the new Softfall has been added and sign off has occurred it will be open for all students to enjoy. 

 

Olympics Day 

We are looking forward to our Olympics Day on Friday August 9th. We look forward to seeing students dressed up in clothes suited to their favourite Olympic sport OR in the colours of their favourite Olympic country - no gold coin donation required! There will be an Olympic parade at the end of the day, so itwould be fantastic to see lots of students dressed up!

Coffee Club 

We look forward to seeing everyone for the Coffee Club next Wednesday August 14th outside the Hall.

Come and get some help with school admin task. 

Come to meet members of the School Council Come to make connections with the community. 

 

 

Father's Day Breakfast

We invite all fathers along to our Father's Breakfast on August 30th. The flier is attached, and breakfast can be ordered through My School Connect. 

 

 

Book Week

We are very excited to be celebrating Book Week with a Book Fair from August 19th to 28th. With our Book Character Dress Up day on Wednesday August 21st. 

 

We have an author visit on August 28th from Andrea Rowe, the author of Jetty Jumping, Sunday Skating and In the Rockpool. 

These books are a wonderful gift for all ages, you will have seen the information sent by May in our Library to enable you to purchase Andrea Rowe's books prior to her visit for $25. To order please visit: www.lamontauthors.com.au and select "Buy our Author's Books". All orders must be completed by14 August to receive the books to be signed during Andrea's visit. 

Parent Caregiver and Guardian Opinion Survey 

Thank you to the 13% of our school community who have already taken up the opportunity to complete the annual Opinion Survey. All families are invited to participate in the survey. 

 

The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open online from Monday 29 July to Friday 30 August 2024.The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. 

 

The survey is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, and student engagement. 

 

Whilst the survey is optional, we encourage and appreciate your participation. 

 

Our school will use the survey results to assist in identifying areas for improvement and professional development needs in the school, to target school planning and improvement strategies. 

 

The online survey is available in English and 10 other languages including Arabic, Greek, Hakha Chin, Hindi, Japanese, Punjabi, Simplified Chinese, Somali, Turkish, and Vietnamese. Resources are also available in additional languages to assist parents / caregivers / guardians who speak a language other than English at home.

Pupil Free Day - correction

Correction - the last newsletter we let you know about our Pupil Free Day on September 16th. 

We wrote that it was our last pupil free day for the year, however there is also a Pupil Free Day on November 4th.
