Whole School Athletics Carnival

Monday 5th August at the Bendigo Athletics Track, Retreat Rd, Flora Hill.

Please make sure you have given permission for this event on (PAM)/Simon Everywhere App.

With the current excitement of the Olympic games, the timing of our P-6 Athletics carnival next Monday 5th August couldn’t be better.

All students have been working hard during Physical Education lessons to prepare for the variety of events on offer throughout the day.

This year, in an attempt to include an 800m event and mixed relays, there have been some changes made to the timing of some of the events. The junior field events will take place on rotation in the middle of the field and the track events (hurdles and 80m sprint) on the far side of the track. The senior (3-6) program will kick off with the hurdles before moving into rotations which will include the 100m/200m events.

This will allow for both the P-2 and 3-6 events to run concurrently, maximising participation and allowing sufficient time to get through the entire program.

Thank you to those parents and grandparents who have volunteered to assist on the day. Your help is greatly appreciated and makes the organisation and running of this event much easier. We have also secured the help of some local SEDA students (Sports Education Development Australia) who will assist with the junior program.

Reminders:

  • Students are encouraged to wear colours that represent their house team.
  • Students are to bring warm clothing to wear between events.
  • Pack lunch, snack and water bottle.

The students will travel by bus to and from the venue departing at the following times:

Leaving from: Saint Monica’s Primary School

Whole School to depart at 9.05am

Returning to: Saint Monica’s Primary School

Grades: P-2- 12.30pm

Grades: 3-6- 2.30pm

Please find below a timetable for both the P-2’s and 3-6’s.

**Please be aware that all timing is subject to change, but that the best efforts will be made to stick to the program.

We are all looking forward to a fun and engaging day of athletics!

Division Netball

We had a fantastic day at the division netball day with a very enthusiastic bunch of our grade 6 students who represented the school brilliantly.

Representing the school on the day were:

Grade 6 girls team:

Amelia W, Maddi B, Poppy F, Bridget G, Ruby C, Zahlea W, Alice H and Audrey L

Grade 6 boys team:

Mitch B, Lewis H, Darcy Y, Tom P, Nate H, Macklin T, Spencer S, Darcy L

and our amazing coach Bern Lamb and Team Manager Maggie Lamb.

While we didn't get as many wins as we'd hoped for, we certainly displayed fantastic sportsmanship and played some great netball. Well done to all involved and a big thanks to Bern and Maggie Lamb for helping us out on the day.

Run Club

Students and parents are invited to take part in out weekly run club.

Walk/run as many laps of the school oval as you can from 8.10 - 8.30am every Friday morning. It's not a race, you set your own pace. Challenge yourself to better your lap count each week. Proudly wear your run club achievement badge for the day and encourage your friends to come along.

Just sign in at the gate on arrival and participate to the best of your ability.

New runners welcome. See Mr Epps if you have any questions.

Primary Netball Tournament

It was a fabulous day for the grade 3 and 6 teams on Sunday at Red Energy Arena.

The grade 6 team finished 2nd in their section and the grade 3 team made it all the way to the grand final but were unfortunately defeated by Kyabram.

Well done to all the players for the amazing attitudes.
