Weekend Activities
The students and staff enjoyed steak and chips for dinner on Friday evening, which was really appreciated, followed by a trip to Eaton Fair for some retail therapy.
Unfortunately, on Saturday, the planned excursion to roller skating fell over with little support from the students. Instead, students went on a trip up to Harvey Dam and Stirling Cottage, which was enjoyed by the students who made the most of the beautiful sunny day.
Saturday evening was a treat for everyone as students headed into Bunbury to watch the new Twister movie.
Sunday was rainy and the students spent a lot of time in their rooms in the warm, enjoying some downtime.
Sunday evening marked the start of the Pool competition, overseen by Bill Jones. The first rounds were a testament to the students' sportsmanship, with everyone showing great support and participating in a very good spirit.
Weekday Activities
Monday saw hockey in Collie and netball in Harvey. Mel Taylor also undertook an acrylic painting workshop, which saw some students really enjoying themselves.
Tuesday was busy once again with netball and football in town. Kryssie Strand undertook another talking circle with one of the girls’ dorms. Once again, the feedback from this activity was positive.
Unfortunately, due to continued poor behaviour in the dining room, we were forced to restructure the seating arrangements by mixing the Year 12 students back in amongst all the other year groups. We had organised so that the Year 12 students could sit with their friends for the last term, but after repeated requests from staff, students were still too noisy and disrespectful, which is disappointing for everyone involved.
On Wednesday evening, Bill oversaw some further rounds in the “pool” competition. Once again, there was good support and friendly rivalry in the rounds. Well done, everyone.
Dorm Monitor Year 12 Thankyou
Last night, nine Year 12 Dorm monitors were lucky enough to have tea at the China City restaurant in Bunbury. Thank you to these students for their help throughout the year.
Washing
Can we please ask that students not put washing into the laundry if it is not dirty, especially the class woollen jumpers. As you can appreciate these take a while to dry in this cool, wet weather.
Head of Residence Change
Heidi Armstrong has kindly accepted the opportunity to cover my role for the next few days while I am away. I ask that all students, parents and staff support her.
