ENGLISH FACULTY
The start of our new academic year has got off to an amazing start. Our junior classes (Years 8-10) have been working on imaginative writing units to hone both their writing and analysis skills. Students have been analysing short stories in class and completing lots of short writing tasks to build their skills in imaginative and reflective writing. It has been a fun and creative way to end the year. All junior classes will be completing their in-class imaginative and reflective writing assessment tasks either at the end of Week 9 or the beginning of Week 10.
The Year 11 senior courses in English Standard, English Studies and English EAL/D have all completed their first module. All classes are working very well and their first assessment tasks are also due at the end of this term. Well done to all students for adapting so quickly to senior studies and for impressing their teachers with their positive work ethic.
Below are photos of the Year 11 English Studies class completing mock job interviews with their teacher, Ms Celeste McKelvie. Students had to compile a CV according to set criteria and sit an interview with their teacher to show the skills they have learnt in the unit about how to prepare themselves to be work-ready in the future. These skills are very transferable and can be used by students for their real job interviews both now and into the future.
We wish all students and their families a very happy and relaxing summer break.
