Subject Name: Physical Education
Unit of Study: Team Sports
Brief Description: In this practical based unit of study, students will participate in a variety of team sports based on student interest. Sports may include netball, soccer, football, hockey, basketball, speedball and lacrosse. Students will explore and practice a variety of skills to enhance performance and will also learn how to score and umpire. Student’s higher order critical thinking, strategies and tactics will also be developed throughout this elective.
A competitive nature would be a bonus for this elective!
Scaffolding Learning
At the conclusion of this unit of study students will have:
An understanding of key knowledge
- Understand biomechanical principles related to various skills, such as shooting techniques, footwork, and body positioning
- Understand and implement strategies, tactics, and game plans
- Recognise and apply principles of fair play, sportsmanship, and teamwork

- Solve problems and make decisions in game scenarios, such as reading defences, identifying opportunities, and adapting strategies

Understanding movement
- Analyse the impact of effort, space, time, objects and people when composing and performing movement sequences (VCHPEM156)
