Unit of Study: Art Creative Practice 

 

Brief Description: In this unit of study, students explore how artists are influenced by personal and cultural context, and how they express these ideas through artworks. Students work through the Creative Practice, where they develop, experiment, refine and resolve individual ideas to communicate ideas and meaning. They investigate a range of materials, techniques, and creative principles to enhance their visual language through artworks.

 

Scaffolding Learning

At the conclusion of this unit of study students will have:

  • Explore the practices of artists from different times and cultures
  • Analyse how artists convey ideas and meaning in their artworks
  • Develop technical skills in a range of drawing materials and techniques
  • Develop visual language skills to communicate ideas and meaning in artworks

  • Plan and design individual artworks.
  • Use materials and techniques to create visual language in artworks.
  • Create and present artworks, and describe how ideas are expressed to an audience.

  • Annotated Presentation - Artwork Analysis
  • Journal and Finished Artwork
  • Semester Exam
