Principals Message
Dear families,
A massive thank you all for the support that we have received over the past few weeks with lots of events taking place at St Mary’s. These have included the Shearing for Kids with Cancer day, our NAIDOC Week celebrations and our Courage and Crowns evening.
Professional Learning
Yesterday, we had a pupil free day for our staff to take part in professional learning pertaining to Catholic Identity. Our day commenced out at Whroo with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education Team from Catholic Education Sandhurst. We spent some time better understanding our local history and how we can embed this learning into our teachings. We then welcomed Paul from the Jewish Museum and Monash University to help us better understand the historical context of Jesus as a Jewish man and unpacked this using scripture.
In all, the day was incredibly beneficial and promoted lots of discussion, discernment and collegiality.
Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop Feast Day
Thursday 8 August is Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop Feast Day. As a school, we will be joining St Joseph’s Nagambie for a Liturgy/Mass and learning rotations. Please, if you have yet to, can you grant permission for your child/ren on SIMON everywhere.
Basketball court update
Today, Jordy and the team have commenced preparations to have our basketball court upgrade. This initial step is to pour a concrete apron on the North side of the court to prevent the asphalt from breaking away at the sides. The remainder of the project is set to take place over the summer holiday break.
Learning Conversations
We have our Semester 2 Learning Conversations booked for Monday and Tuesday next week. Can you please log on and book a time for both parent/s and student to attend a meeting with their teacher. During this time, you will discuss learning achievements and areas for further development.
Book Week
Book week is in Week 6. We have our Book Week parade Tuesday 20th August at 8:50am. Our theme is ‘Reading is Magic’. Families are more than welcome to attend.
Thank you everyone and please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions or concerns.
