Cross Country Skiing Years 3 and 4

Day 1

Our students in years 3/4 haved enjoyed their first of 4 cross country skiing days.

Students set off in a few different groups based on their ability.  Impessively our 1st timers/beginner group made it out to the Nordic Bowl in their first session.

Cooper:

I have always done downhill skiing and I learnt a few diffences.  It felt funny not having all of my boot clicked into the binding so I had to get use to just my toes in.  I also had to keep remembering that my cross country poles are further back than when I do downhill skiing.  I had a great day with my mates in the snow.

Goldie:

When we started off is was pretty hard.  We then realised quickly I needed to change my ski's.  Once we did this I felt more incontrol and more confident going a bit faster this year. The poles I found a bit tricky getting used to putting my hands through the strpas as my poles I use for downhill skiing dont have straps.

Maxie:

I enjoyed everything.  I could ski better this year.  I was good at going fast and dodging things.

Johnathan:

I was going down the hill not to fast and then Kit crashed into me from behind; we both fell over.  We both thought that was funny.  The snow was soft like it is in Minecraft I think.  When it came time to have some snacks I opened my lunchbox and it had snow it!  We skied some more and I tried to catch Maxie but he was fast.

Jordyn:

On my first hill it felt big, and I was worried going down it cause I had no tracks to follow, it's was funny when Kit came down behind faster than I was going and crashed into me once I had just gotten my balace right.  I am really looking forward to next week!

Harry:

I enjoyed the bus ride up to Falls Creek.  I found cross country skiing hard but over the day my skating improved and that was good.

Howmans Gap are kindly helping to run our sessions again this year and we extend our thanks, and also to AGL for helping sponsor some of the costing involved with this years skiing programs.

Please ensure your child/ren have adequate multiple light, warm layers under their snow jacket and pants. Weather can change very quickly in the Alps.  Spare socks, pants and gloves are recommend to pack in the event they get wet.  Warm children are happy children when it comes to snowsports.

Wintersports Carnival

Last Friday our Year 4-6 students had an opportunity to attend the annual Wintersports Carnival in Wodonga.  Our students split up in to different sports; Netball, Soccer and Volleyball.

Thanks to a great team effort we won the Netball division and bought home the trophy.  We are getting the trophy engraved and it will be on display in our office area soon.

A big shoutout and thank you to Steph for the many hours organising this event.
