Hello, Highvale Primary School community. We would like to wish all HPS students and their families a relaxing Term 1 break. We hope you have an opportunity to see family and friends and enjoy what ever traditions your family may celebrate over Easter. We thought it would be a good opportunity to tell you what our families do.
Sham - Hello everyone! My family and I don’t celebrate easter but I did celebrate a different event on Monday. I celebrated Eid, a religious event that Muslims participate in. Eid al-Fitr is a really special celebration for Muslims because it marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting. On this day, families wake up early, put on their best clothes, and go to the mosque to pray. After that, they visit relatives and friends, give gifts, and eat lots of delicious food like sweets and special dishes. It is also a time to give charity to the poor, so everyone can enjoy the celebration. People greet each other by saying “Eid Mubarak,” which means “Blessed Eid.” It is a happy and joyful time for everyone!
Mann - I am going to share what my family does to celebrate Easter. Our parents usually hide some chocolate eggs around the house and my older brother and I have to find them. Then we will mix them together into a giant pile and slowly devourer them over the course of a few weeks. Tasty!
Anvita - Hi, Happy Easter to all of you. As you know many people will be celebrating Easter, but not me. My family don’t celebrate Easter, but I will do some pretty relaxing and exciting things over the holidays. To start things off, I will sit home binge-watching mystery movies in bed with popcorn. I will go on sleepovers and host them too. We will play games, dance and goof around. That’s all I’m doing in the holidays. It’s not much but it will be pretty fun. I hope you all have a great Easter and a fun holiday.
Ethan - We usually do an Easter Egg Hunt with my family (my sister and cousins). Then, we share the chocolate so it is all even (BORING!). Then we have enough chocolate to eat for a whole year!
