Successful First Week Back
Although it has been a short three-day week, we have had a productive start to Term 2, with staff and students returning to teaching and learning with great enthusiasm. Our Prep students are maturing with the passing of each school day and classes across all year levels have been on task with their studies. I am confident the high standards will continue throughout the term.
Extended Leave
We have a couple of staff currently on extended leave. Mr. Jeremy Matheson is currently on long service leave for six weeks and has been replaced by Mr. Anthony Lentini. Mr. Seb Scanu has continued his leave from the end of Term 1, and has been replaced by a combination of Mr. Matt Eid, Mr. Alex Campbell and myself. We hope to see Seb back in week three or four. Mr. Simon La Rocca is currently travelling around Europe and has been replaced by Mrs. Rachel Malivindi and Mrs. Nicole Campbell. Plenty Parklands is fortunate to be able to employ staff with familiar faces and that our students recognise when we need to replace staff.
It Is Finally Here
Our long awaited new Prep playground is on its way. We have a start date of 10 May confirmed. Construction will take two weeks, which will include the demolition of the current playground and the building of the new pirate ship (including our small in ground trampoline). This is exciting news considering how long we have waited for the Department to progress with the project.
Special thanks go to our School Council President Mr. Dean Rowley and Mr. Alex Campbell for all the work they have done in preparation for this new play space.
ANZAC Day
ANZAC Day as we know it was first observed on 25 April 1916, as people came together to commemorate the landing of Australian and New Zealand forces at Gallipoli, Türkiye, on 25th April 1915. This important tradition has now become an opportunity to stop and reflect on the sacrifice and dedication of all our veteran and service community, and the families who support them.
We recognise First Nations people who served in conflicts, and we acknowledge their service, sacrifice and ongoing impacts on their families.
ANZAC Day is a public holiday. School staff and students who wish to observe the day can join in commemorative activities at the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne. These activities include the:
