Year 5/6

Excursion to Ellery House.

Over the last two weeks, the Grade 5 / 6 students have been making weekly visits to Ellery House Aged Care. This is part of an intergenerational program which provides students with an excellent opportunity to engage with their local community, take part in an opportunity for knowledge sharing, and develop a broader understanding of care, communication, empathy and the art of conversation.

We will be participating in three visits this term. Everyone involved was very impressed with the way the students conducted themselves, were well planned for the visit and the efforts they went to, to provide a positive experience with other people in our community.

Some of the activities that proved to be a hit were Uno, colouring in, conversations in general, connect four, gardening for the residents and making each other name tags.

Students then reflected on these experiences and are planning in readiness for next week.
