Physical Education

It has been another active few weeks in Health and PE class! This week our students enjoyed a football clinic run by AFL Victoria. It was great to observe their enthusiasm and engagement in the activities along with their developing skills! Special thanks to Maddy from AFL Victoria for facilitating this for us (after our initial clinic was cancelled). It was wonderful to be able to run this day for our students!
Grade 2-6 students have been continuing with some cross-country training as our warm up. Students are continuing to approach the training positively with an understanding that the focus is on participation, building our endurance and reaching our own goal of making the distance and achieving our personal best, whatever pace that may be – a great philosophy for many things in life!
We have also been focusing on developing our netball, football and basketball skills as we approached today’s Grade 3-6 District Schools Sports Day. It has been terrific to observe our students’ skill development, team work, resilience, persistence and openness to try sports they may not usually play or be involved in. We had some fun playing some modified matches. I didn’t mind joining in myself with the students whenever we were short a player!
Our Grade F/1 students have continued to build upon their throw and catch skills as well as their team work through partner and small group activities and relays. Their enthusiasm is delightful and their skills are very impressive!
The students have also been enjoying learning and playing some new games and further developing many of their fundamental movement skills in preparation for our Grade F-2 District Tabloid Sports Day early next term – Friday 2nd May at Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve (permission forms containing information will be released soon! Families welcome to attend).
