Learning in Grade 2!

LITERACY

Grade 2 has been exploring narratives during our writing sessions. We have been working on sizzling starts and finding creative ways to solve the problems within our stories. To finish the term, we published and illustrated our wonderful narratives using digital technology. We are excited to be published authors!

MATHS

During our daily Maths sessions we have been exploring patterns that grow or shrink by a constant amount. We had fun creating patterns using a variety of materials. We’ve also been working with shapes and learning about maps.

INTEGRATED

Grade 2 have enjoyed our Integrated topic this term, ‘Our World, Our Stories’. All our learning has culminated in a mini project. This project has involved students choosing a country with which they have a family or cultural connection. They then researched and created a poster detailing important facts about their country. We celebrated our work by visiting all the Grade 2 classes and showcasing our wonderful work.

WELLBEING

Students have enjoyed working through our URstrong program. We have explored what makes a good friend and how to be a good friend, friendship fires and how to make them smaller as well as how to navigate tricky situations in friendships when they arise. We had a ball during Wellbeing Week, reflecting on ourselves and how to stay healthy mentally.

TERM 2

We look forward to lots of exciting events in Term 2. Some of the things we will be exploring include:

Literacy - the exploration of recount and persuasive writing pieces

Maths - extending our addition and subtraction skills and learning about mass, length and capacity

Integrated - Wild and Wacky Weather, including an excursion to Scienceworks on the 14th of May
