School Saving Bonus 2024/2025 - Update for Families

Dear parents and carers, 

 

In Term 4, 2024, families with a child enrolled in a government school from Prep to Year 12 in 2025 will receive the one-off $400 School Saving Bonus.

 

The $400 School Saving Bonus provides families with support for education-related costs, such as school activities and/or school uniforms and textbooks.

 

The School Saving Bonus is not available for full-fee international students, home-schooled students, TAFE students and students attending kindergarten in 2025.   

 

Actions for parents and carers

Department of Education is asking parents and carers to:

  • Complete enrolment: If your child, or children are changing government school for Term 1 2025, or starting Prep or Year 7 in 2025. 
  • Check your contact information: Ensure your email address and phone number is up to date with us.  
  • Monday 2nd September parents of the Primary Household will receive a Data Collection Form to update details.
  • By 13th September: Parents complete and return the attached Data Collection Form to our school office. 
  • If your student(s) (current Prep – Year 5) will not be studying at Surfside Primary School in 2025 please complete the section at the end of the Data Collection Form.
  • Further changes to contact details MUST be received by Surfside Primary by 18th October.
  • November, the rollout of the $400 School Saving Bonus commences.  

We need to ensure your contact information is up to date as the Department of Education will email you twice.  Please check your junk mail regularly to make sure you do not miss an important email.

Swimming Program 2024

Our Swimming and Water Safety Program will be held in Term 4 over 2 weeks beginning Tuesday 8th October, for students in grades: F2, F5, J3, J4, J7,J8, M18, M19, M20, S12, S13, and S14.

Surfside Primary is able to reduce the cost for families with a subsidy from the Department of Education's Positive Start Initiative'.

All families who have paid at the start of the year only need to give consent 

through their Parent Compass. Families who have yet to pay can do this via compass and give consent.

School Hours

Classes Start: 8:45am

 Classes Finish: 3:15pm

     Recess 10:50 -11:20am (Eating Time 10.45-10.50)

    Lunch 1:30 - 2:15pm (Eating Time 1.20-1.30)

 

Please ensure your child/children are at school prior to 8:45am. Students should not be arriving before 8.30am.

 

All students who arrive late must sign in at the office and take a late pass to the teacher.

Students leaving early must be signed out by a parent at the office.

 

Camp Australia is also available for before and after school if required. 

Please refer to the Camp Australia website for more information.

 

If your child is leaving school early could you please email the class teacher, giving a time that you would like your child to be at the office ready for pick up. Unfortunately we are unable to call students over the intercom, unless it is recess, lunchtime or from 3.10pm.

Al orders are delivered to our office free of charge and will be given to the students at the end of the day or parents can collect them.

Please place your child's name on your order, this makes the process of getting their order to them, so much easier.

At Surfside Primary School we are committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe. 

Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our school website.

We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We are currently reviewing our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective. 

Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.
