Greater Western Region Athletics 

On Thursday 10th of October, 8 students represented Woodman’s Hill Secondary College at the Greater Western Region Athletic Championship, held at the Llanberris Reserve. 

Abbey Allen, Straalen Bennet, Charlotte Biggin, Lex Gaulke, Jacinta Knight, Amelia Middleton, Ethan Oldaker and Charlie Parr participated in a range of track and field events against other secondary schools from Ballarat and across the western region. 

The students showed amazing determination in their events, with several personal bests being achieved, and plenty of heavy necks as the following students polled in their events:

Ethan Oldaker - 1st in the 800m, 2nd in the 400m

Lex Gaulke - 3rd in High Jump

Abbey Allen - 2nd in Long Jump, 2nd in High Jump

Charlie Parr - 1st in High Jump

There’s extra excitement for Ethan and Charlie who progressed to the state championships on the 21st of October at Albert Park.

Ethan achieved 7th position in the 12-13 year boys 800m event which would have been a tough race in Monday’s warmer conditions. 

Charlie competed in the 18-20 year boys high jump and came away as state champion.  

A huge congratulations to all students who participated on the day, they represented themselves and the school extremely well.
