PRIORITISING SAFETY: IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR PARKING & PICK-UP

As many of you may have seen in recent news, the Auburn South community has faced an incident that has profoundly impacted their school community. Our hearts go out to the families enduring this tragic time and to all the students grappling with the devastation of these events.

At Orchard Park, our top priority is always the safety of our students. Through Newsletters, Compass posts, and assemblies, we’ve continually emphasised road safety for our community. Unfortunately, we still observe cars parked in the median strip for drop-off or pick-up, students exiting cars while they are not parked, and parents parking in the staff car park, which is unmanned. These actions, though they may seem harmless in the moment, can have serious consequences.

We urge all parents and carers to be vigilant and considerate of every student’s safety. Please adhere to the designated pick-up and drop-off areas and follow safe parking practices at all times.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS – STUDENT PROGRESS MEETINGS

We would like to thank our parent community for taking the time to arrange a Parent-Teacher Interview with our classroom teachers. We hope these meetings provided valuable insights into your child’s progress throughout the semester and offered clarity in anticipation of the reports that will be released later in the term.

UPCOMING CURRICULUM DAY

We wish all families a restful long weekend. On Monday, our staff will engage in professional learning with our Literacy Consultant, Emina McLean, to deepen our understanding and enhance the implementation of our writing curriculum. We hope all our students enjoy an extra-long weekend and return rested for the remainder of the term.

REGION ATHLETICS

We want to celebrate three of our fantastic Year 5/6 students for their recent participation in the regional athletics event: Alex Jones, who participated in XX; Taylor McAndrew, who competed in high jump; and Conley Tanielu, who ran in hurdles. Each of these students did an outstanding job representing OPPS, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements at this level.

UPCOMING YEAR 2 SLEEP OVER

Our Year 2 students are very excited for their Sleepover next week! This event provides a mini camp-like experience to help prepare our Year 2s for their two-night camp in Year 3. Students will arrive at school at 5:30 pm in their PJs, enjoy dinner together, play some games in the gym, and watch a movie before heading to bed.

For many of our Year 2s, this will be their first experience away from home, and we will be supporting each of them to ensure it’s a positive and successful experience.

UPCOMING STUDENT CELEBRATION DAY

On Tuesday, 12 November, Orchard Park PS is thrilled to be partnering with the OPPS Parents and Friends group to host a celebration day for our students. The day will be filled with excitement and activities delivered by Kaboom Sports. Please check Compass and Facebook for more details. We welcome any parents who have completed the Volunteer Induction Session to support on the day. If you’re interested, please contact the office to lend a hand.

YEAR 6 FUNDRAISING

Our Year 6 students have been doing a great job raising funds for their Year 6 graduation. Every Wednesday at lunchtime, they set up in the Food Tech room to sell Zooper Doopers for $1.

If any families would like to support by donating a bag of Zooper Doopers, it would be greatly appreciated.
