Amazing Talent
Our whole school talent show last Monday was a resounding success with ten fantastic acts showcasing a range of skills from our student group. The crowd enjoyed performances that included singing, dancing, gymnastics, joke telling and instrumental talents.
A congratulations to not just our finalists, but to any students that participated throughout Term 3. The fact that we had over 60 participants is a credit to our music teacher, Mr. Thomas Stubberfield and his team.
A highlight of mine as Principal, was the excellent job our Junior School Councilors did as judges throughout the tournament. Their positive comments to contestants always showed our school value of care.
Upcoming important dates
Please be aware of several upcoming events in our school calendar-
Renovations are complete
Our major renovation project of the Year 3 and Year 4 toilets adjacent to our school gymnasium is now complete. As you can see from the attached photos, this total refit looks fantastic and is a major improvement for our students. We have plans to renovate our remaining two student toilet blocks in the near future.
Another improvement to our school is the planting of a new garden outside the administration block. Well done to Mr. Surkitt and his various student helpers for the planting and watering of these sensational new additions.
Congratulations
Mr. Scanu and Mr. Falcone continue to have great sporting success with their physical education program. Congratulations to our students from the lawn bowls team that finished second at the State finals this week, after winning both their district and regional events.
Our Hot Shots Tennis boys and girls represented our school with pride at their division day this week, with our girls’ team getting through to the northern metropolitan region finals in November. Last Wednesday our girls’ and boys’ volleyball team participated at the Whittlesea divisional level, with our boys making it through to the northern metropolitan region finals.
Initial Plans for 2025
We are in the process of planning for 2025, and at this stage we will again be running 31 classrooms with an overall average of 23 students per class. The plan is to have five Prep, Year 1 and Year 3 classes. We will run four classes in 2, 4, 5 & 6. On our current calculations we will have 720 students in the school.
Up until the end of October, I am only aware of one teacher that will not be here next year, whilst we have two staff returning from leave. More information will follow as we finalise plans going into the new year.
Road safety
Recent news regarding the fatality at Auburn South Primary School was horrible to hear. Our thoughts go out to the school community there. It has made me as Principal reflect on any possible ways to improve safety measures for the students at Plenty Parklands.
At our recent School Council Meeting last Tuesday night, we have committed to an audit of our school grounds and a particular focus on areas where cars drive near our school boundary fence. Over the next couple of weeks, we will look at any possible ways to enhance safety. Can I please ask that you drive safely and follow road rules when driving in streets alongside our school.
