Prep
The Preps have had an exciting first four weeks of Term 4! We started out the term learning about Frogs, and then a Frog turned up in our school hallway! We were able to keep it in our classroom for the morning while we drew it and wrote about it.
We have always loved playing with pattern blocks, but this term our pictures and creations have been even more creative, as we have combined them to make huge patterns!
Last week, we had our excursion to Flagstaff Hill and Mini Golf! We loved learning about the Fairy Penguins and Maremma Dogs, exploring Flagstaff Hill and playing Mini Golf. It was so special to have so many of our families join us for lunch.
This week, we got to display our art that we have created throughout the year! Thanks Mrs Zeunert for teaching us. We love Prep!

"On Friday, we went on an excursion with the Prep class to Flagstaff Hill to learn about the Fairy Penguins and the Maremma Dogs. It was fun to see the dogs up close! We had time to look around the village and were excited to climb the lighthouse and see the beautiful views. We could see a long way away.
We had lunch with some of our families. It was a lovely sunny day and we did a short walk from Lake Pertobe to the Mini Golf. We had fun playing on the playground and going down the dark slide. We all had bubble wands and made so many bubbles as we walked.
We got icy poles after we played 18 holes at the Mini Golf. Jack and George were very clever and got a hole-in-one and were very happy with themselves. We came back to school on the bus with the Preps. It was a really fun day" - Year 1 Students
Year 3
In Year 3, we have been having lots of fun learning about fractions and have used lots of edible things to help us learn, as well as played games. As per usual, we are very good at teaching each other and have had different partners to explain things in different ways. One thing we really enjoyed was doing a fractions escape room - luckily we all received the keys to the candy factory!
In Science, we have been learning about the earth’s crust and rocks. We did a very cool experiment and made some crystals, and we visited the Senior School, where Mr Robertson took us to the Science lab and taught us about the rock cycle. He showed us some super awesome rocks!

Year 4
Year 4 had a delightful surprise when two fluffy visitors, Luna and Hermione the rabbits, joined the class for the day! The students were thrilled to have such soft, friendly companions, eagerly taking turns to pet them and observe their curious, twitching noses. The rabbits’ gentle nature captivated everyone, sparking questions from the students who were eager to learn all about their diet, habitat, and how to care for them. The experience was a wonderful way to bring a little bit of nature into the classroom and encourage curiosity about animals.
In addition to the excitement of having a class pet for the day, Year 4 students also dove into their science lesson by creating a mini water cycle in a bag! Using simple materials, they replicated the stages of evaporation, condensation, and precipitation, observing droplets form and fall just like rain. This hands-on project brought the water cycle to life, helping students understand how it works in our environment. It was an engaging day of discovery, from petting bunnies to exploring the science of rain!

Year 5
The past two weeks have been a lot of fun and very interesting for Year 5. They have enjoyed learning about mass and measurement with lots of hands-on tasks. They got to go on a classroom scavenger hunt to find items weighing as close as possible to a list of weights. There was a pile of kitchen items hidden throughout the classroom as well as any classroom item that were able to be used.
Last week, Mrs Zeunert taught them about the Eureka Rebellion in Humanities. The students completed timelines and some gave oral presentations on their learning.
The students are also doing a great job with their novel studies and have created some wonderful posters persuading people of what to pack in an emergency evacuation. They are continuing to learn about the Black Saturday bushfires of 2009 and gain valuable insight into what goes on in a natural disaster.
The countdown is on for camp and the students have been working very hard to learn two Assembly items and their end of year item. All this leads to tried but happy and excited students who are a delight to teach.

Bike Education
Our Year 5 students recently took their Bike Education skills to the road, where they practiced crucial cycling and road safety lessons. Throughout the ride, they applied essential road rules, learned how to approach and navigate roundabouts, and strengthened their awareness of surroundings, including the importance of checking blind spots and making eye contact with drivers. This hands-on experience not only boosted their confidence but also reinforced safe riding habits, helping them become more responsible and alert road users. We’re incredibly proud of their progress and dedication to road safety!

Prep - Year 3 Art Showcase
This week parents were invited to come and view the beautiful artwork the Prep - Year 3 students have produced. Each class has worked with a focus over the past term. Prep learned about lines and collage, Year 1 experimented with watercolours, lines and directed drawing activities, Year 2 focused on painting and the use of lines, while Year 3 worked on designing and creating their beautiful sculptures. Thank you to our wonderful families who came along to support our creative students.
