All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

This weekend our Year 2 families will be celebrating their Family Level Mass. Our theme for this mass, "Your Faith has Saved You, Come and Follow Me,' is derived from this Sunday's Gospel reading about Jesus healing  the blind man, Bartimaeus.

Bartimaeus’s faith is not about subscribing to certain dogmas, rules and regulations of the church at that time. It is his unrelenting conviction that Jesus can and will rescue him from his need. We see this faith in what Bartimaeus does: Bartimaeusinsisted on calling out to Jesus, eventhough others tried to keep him quiet. This demonstrates how much faith he had- he must have known Jesus was special, and knew that he could help him. Jesus gave Bartimaeus his sight but added something very important. He told him "Your faith has saved you." Bartimeaeus then followed Jesus along the road. He became a follower of Jesus. We too, as followers of Jesus, are asked to open our eyes of faith and not be blind to the people around us who need our help but rather to  notice areas of need and do something about it!

In the early church, Baptism was sometimes called Illumination. This term refers to the fact that when we become followers of Jesus, we are given a new sight. We see with the eyes of faith and are given the freedom to share and act upon the good news with those we meet.
