Grade 2

What a wonderful Term 4 it has been so far in Year 2! As we move into the final term, we’re excited to share all the amazing things we’ve been learning and what’s still to come. Here’s a peek at what’s been happening in the classroom:

Literacy Review

Throughout the year, we’ve explored a wide range of topics in Literacy. Students have been working hard to improve their reading, comprehension, and spelling skills. We’ve revisited key themes like exploring tricky words, asking questions to deepen understanding, and spelling skills.

Mathematics – Measurement and Scales

In Maths, our current focus is on measurement. The students have been learning how to use scales to weigh objects, compare lengths, and measure capacities. It’s been hands-on and lots of fun! We’re also learning how to use different units of measurement, and students are enjoying applying their new skills to real-world activities in class.

Persuasive and Narrative Writing Practice

This term, we’ve been spending time perfecting two important writing styles. The students are learning how to write convincing persuasive pieces (you may have heard some great arguments for getting a class pet!). At the same time, we are crafting creative narratives, using exciting characters and settings to make stories come to life. The students have shown wonderful growth in their writing, and it’s been exciting to see their ideas take shape.

Christmas Concert Practice

Excitement is in the air as we’ve officially begun rehearsing for the Christmas concert! The students are working hard to learn their dance and rehearse songs. We can’t wait to share the magic of Christmas with you at the concert – it’s shaping up to be a joyful celebration!

Thank you for your continued support throughout the year. It’s been such a pleasure to watch the students grow and achieve so much. We look forward to finishing the year on a high note!

Kind regards,The Year 2 Teaching Team
