Artisan Alley - Visual Arts and Design & Technology Exhibition
On Friday, 25th October, the Founders' Complex transformed into a gallery of student creativity at the Artisan Alley exhibition. Works from our Visual Arts and Design & Technology students took center stage, each piece telling its own story of imagination and skill. From intricate designs to expressive visual artworks, the showcase highlighted the diverse talents within our student community.
Fr Harry opened the evening with a beautiful blessing, reminding us to "immerse ourselves in this visual symphony, appreciating the diverse talents that enrich the lives of our students." These creations not only reflect their dedication but also encourage us to "explore the depths of our own imagination and emotions."
Thank you to all the students, staff, and families who came together to celebrate the arts at Mazenod!

Alvin Boucherau Year 11 Vocational Major (VM) - Work Placement
Alvin is a young man with a passion for music, he has been playing percussion for as long as he can remember and is currently under the tutelage of Mr Alex Keser, Mazenod’s percussion teacher.
Alvin has the dream of being a teacher and hopes to be able to teach English and Music, the VCE Vocational Major pathway allows students to complete Year 12 and undertake courses at TAFE that can lead to a degree course and ultimately allow a student entry to a university course.
For his work placement Alvin is working at Music Factory Direct in Bayswater. Over the last six weeks Alvin has been repairing and assembling second hand drum kits while also learning the skill of reskinning drums. In the picture Alvin is assembling an electric drum kit, that can be sampled and played by potential buyers.
Mazenod sincerely thanks the staff at Music Factory Direct for the mentoring and care that they have shown Alvin. The VCE Vocational Major program would not be as successful as it, without the assistance of employers who are willing to give our young men an experience in the industry where they wish to seek a career.
If you have the capacity to employ a VCE Vocational major student, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Leigh Harris lharris@mazenod.vic.edu.au or Ms Athena Beshir abeshir@mazenod.vic.edu.au our Vocational Education Leaders. The work placement days for Year 11 students who undertake the Intermediate program is Tuesday, while our Year 12 Senior students venture out on a Thursday.
We wish Alvin all the best for the remainder of Year 11 and for Year 12 in 2025.
Pastoral Challenge
On Friday, 25th October, the Year 11 pastoral team ran the students through a series of mini games/challenges out on the soccer pitch. While the pastoral groups competed against each other, the aim of each activity was to work effectively as a team to win the challenge. Our students enjoyed the start to their day and positively engaged in the games throughout, with 11 Ryan winning the competition overall.
Tomorrow Man
On Wednesday, October 30th, the Year 10 students took part in the first module of their three-part program with ‘Tomorrow Man’. Tomorrow Man facilitates workshops for schools, sporting clubs, and communities that train the real-life capabilities and build the emotional range required to navigate life's ups and downs in healthy ways. They meet men and boys where they are, creating judgement-free training grounds to build emotional muscle and start conversations about the man of tomorrow.
Our students engaged positively, really enjoying their time. We have received many emails, phone calls and verbal feedback praising the workshop, from staff, students and parents. We thank all the Year 10 pastoral teachers for supporting our students on the day and to all other teachers who accommodated the disruption.
