Well Done State Athletics Team

Last Wednesday, Milla H, Lenny T and Jack M travelled down to Melbourne to compete in the State Athletics at Lakeside Stadium.  It was an amazing experience just being at such a state-of-the-art venue, seeing their name up in lights and seeing all the other amazing athletics from around the state.  Milla took on lightning-fast athletes in the 200m and beat her previous time by more than one second (a huge difference in our sprint events).  Lenny bravely challenged the other competitors in the high jump (which got incredibly hot out on the field).  His starting height was higher than most of us can just!  Lenny also got a P.B. and finished 7th overall!  Jack had an exciting event in the Long Jump with additional jumps being needed to rank the jumpers.  It looked like he had wings with how far he jumped and managed to land himself a 2nd on the podium!  Well done to all our three athletes!  An incredible effort from all of you!

Well Done Golfers

On Monday, 28 October, the following students competed as individuals in the Western Region Qualifier: Oscar B, Oliver B, Angus M and Jai G. All four boys played well with Oscar winning the day on 35, Angus a close second on 38, Oliver sneaking in with 48 and Jai with a respectable 58. Oscar, Angus and Oliver have qualified for the final to be played on the 12th of November at Midlands. It was really great to see the boys uphold the school values during the competition.

Oscar was previously selected as an emergency for the Vic Under 12 Golf Team. He spent Sunday, 27 October, down at the High Performance Centre at Sandringham Golf Course with the team. A very fun and informative session was had.

Well Done Cricketers

Well done to all our players in last week’s Division Cricket.  It was a full day of matches, and each team took to the field determined to hit the double zone boundaries and take as many wickets as possible.  It was great to see that our players were not only out there showing their terrific skills but enjoying the game and making it fun for everyone.

The boys' team were in a pool of three but despite not loosing a match, finished second in the over-all ladder.  A terrific effort!

The girls team won four of their five matches and are delighted to have finished on top of the ladder (with their percentage) which means they will progress through to Regionals on 13 November.  Well done girls and good luck!!

Thank you to Ms Middlin for taking the teams, Kim and Bernie for driving the team and Darren and Claire for giving up their time to support our teams.  Thank you to all the friends and family who made it to the ground at some point during the day to show their support.

Well Done Regional Basketballers:

A huge congratulations to our incredible basketball team who dominated the court in Colac last Thursday.  We knew it was going to be tough competition at the Regional level and my word our team was ready.  The team had three pool games to start the day which they won all of. This took them to the playoffs where they challenged the solid St Joseph’s team (Warrnambool).  It was a highlight game of the day, and our boys won this to take them into the grand final.  St Thomas Moore certainly were the team to beat but unfortunately the second half got away from us.  Buninyong finished an amazing runners up and should be incredibly proud of how they played and the sportspersonship they displayed.  I warn anyone taking the court against any of these boys!  They are solid players!

Thank you to Matt for coming along with us on the day and being the Coach of the Year!  He tactically guided our team through all their games and made sure each individual was utilised wonderfully and their skills showcased.  We couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgeable and kind coach.  Thank you.

Thank you also to the many family members who made it down this day to support us and cheer us on (a special mention to Helen for noticing the bus lights were on).  Thank you also to Mia, Chantelle and Catherine who assisted with scoring during the day.  You’re all legends!

What to bring to P.E.

Just a reminder for all students to bring with them their P.E. shoes, drink bottles and hats to their P.E. classes.  This allows us to make the most of our lessons together.  Thanks to everyone who continues to remember these.
