Bunjil Award Winners

Congratulations to our Scotsburn Bunjil Award winners from last week’s Scotsburn Assembly. We had quite a few this time around due to us missing the last whole school assembly with our prep transition program. Well done superstars!

Bunnings Sausage Sizzle

This Sunday is our Scotsburn Bunnings sausage sizzle fundraiser at Delacombe and we need your help!

There are still quite a few spots available on the volunteer roster, so if you can help out (even for just a short time) it would be very much appreciated.

Click on the link below for the volunteer roster schedule. See you there!

Remembrance day

On Monday, students and staff at Scotsburn observed one minute of silence at 11:00am to commemorate Remembrance Day. We held a small Remembrance Day service in the afternoon in front of our Gallipoli Lone Pine Tree. Students and staff discussed the importance of the day as well as its meaning and significance to a new generation. We concluded the service with another minute of silence, with the students demonstrating wonderful respect and reflection.

Pupil Free Day Next Tuesday

A reminder that next Tuesday 19 November is a pupil-free day, with staff at both campuses completing a Professional Practice Day.

Scotsburn Produce Cupboard

Don’t forget to regularly check out the produce cupboard and community book swap. Feel free to help yourself, whenever it is open! We will add a donation box in the coming weeks.

School Magazine

This year's school magazine is now available to order via QKR for $15.00. Orders will remain open until midnight on 22 November.

P-2 Sports Day

The Prep - 2 Sports Day has been rescheduled for Tuesday 26 November. Students are encouraged to wear their house colours on the day. SC1 Grade 1 & 2s session will be between 9:30 - 10:50 a.m, and the SC1 Preps will be between 11:40 am - 1:00pm.  Parents are more than welcome to come along and watch. We will start and finish the day at the Buninyong Campus. Please meet Mrs. Inglis in the courtyard at 8:45am. Students will be dismissed from the court yard again at the end of the school day at 3:30pm. Please keep an eye out on Compass for further information.

2025 Scholarship Programs

Students currently in grades 3-5 can now apply to participate in any of the scholarship programs or STEM Extension for 2025. To apply, students need to write a letter to Mrs. Phillips explaining why they would like to participate and why they would be a strong candidate. The flyers with all the information on what scholarships are available, as well as how to apply were posted via Compass last Monday, November 4. Students are also welcome to attach supporting documentation, which might include relevant samples of their work or photos showing their involvement in the relevant field.

See Mr. Morgan or Mrs. Anderson for more information!

Student Work in the Yard

As you can see above, there has continued to be plenty happening in the yard! At this time of year, everything is growing at a rapid speed and we have been completing a lot of maintenance work. We also had some new sand delivered for our sand pit and Gaga pit, which has been very well received!

Scotsburn Parent Volunteering Roster

Please see the link below for our new Term 4 Parent Volunteer Roster. We would love to get back into the swing of things with our parent volunteering routine, and with such a busy term ahead, all help would be appreciated. If you have any time available to help out, we would be very grateful!

Grandparents and Special Friends Day

A reminder to everyone we have our Grandparents and Special Friends Day on November 29. This is always a big event and one of the highlights on the school calendar. If your children have grandparents that can attend, please invite them along, but if not, they are welcome to invite anyone else that is special to them…that might even be you.

Our guests are invited to come along between 9:00am and 11:00am to visit classrooms and explore the grounds.

At 11:00am our visitors will be invited to the old building for some morning tea and a chat.  In the past we have had parents bring along a plate, resulting in an amazing spread for our grandparents to enjoy.  We’d like to do the same again and invite all families to send something along.  We also need a few adults to help organise and serve morning tea.  Please let Mrs Anderson or Mr Morgan know if you are able to help.

We look forward to a wonderful morning.

3/4 Wyuna Queenscliff Camp

The Grade 3/4 Camp for our Scotsburn students is fast approaching. For Scotsburn Grade 3s and 4s, it will be in Week 9, on Wednesday 4 December and Thursday 5 December. Our 3/4 students will join the Buninyong Grade 4 students to travel to Queenscliff for two days of fun and excitement. Our students will be well prepared in the lead up to the camp and will be wonderfully cared for by the Grade 4 staff at the Buninyong Campus.

Unfortunately, Mr Morgan will be unable to attend as he is required back at school with the Grade 5/6 students, however we know they are in great hands.

Grade 3/4 parents, please keep an eye out on Compass for more camp information in the coming weeks. Also, feel free to pop in and see Mr Morgan for more information.

SC1 Learning Snapshot

Welcome to Week 6!

This term is flying by, with lots of great learning going on in SC1. Mrs Anderson and Mrs Inglis have been busy with lots of testing and we are so thrilled with the progress that everyone has made this semester.

Our Prep - 2 sports day has been rescheduled to Tuesday the 26 November, so circle it on the calendar, get your runners out and get ready to have some fun! It should be a great day, and hopefully the weather cooperates this time around. Don’t forget your hats, drink bottles and your house colours. It would be a good idea to slap on some sunscreen before school as well. This event will take place at the Buninyong Campus so we will start and finish the day there.

In Writing this week we are continuing our work on different forms of poetry. Poetry is great fun to write, make sure you ask your child about what their favourite piece has been so far. Our Maths work this week is all about number and we are revising our skip counting and repeated addition facts by 2, 5 and 10. We are applying this skill to number problems and playing lots of fun maths games that allow us to use this skill and build our number fluency.

As always, we have lots happening throughout the term so please reach out if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Ana and Hayley.

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Halfway through term already, can you believe it!!!

SC2 students have been doing a terrific job during our assessment period, combining structured classroom lessons with some important assessment tasks. The growth mindset that has been displayed across the entire class has been incredible and the results are showing just all the hard work and learning that has been occurring across the year.

We are coming to that time of year where there are so many things to remember, particularly with our older students. We will be doing our best to keep everyone informed (but not overloaded) with what is coming up. If you are ever unsure, please come in and see us.

Next week we will have our flyer ready to send home with key dates and requirements for our end of year arrangements. The final two weeks of school are chocka block full of events and activities!

As always, thanks for your continued support,

Jarrod and Liz

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
