St Mary's IDHS Community Garden

On Friday last week, the students made their way to IDHS to tend to our school's community garden. Well done to the students with cleaning up our space and taking home some of the yummy produce that we have grown ourselves!

Remember that we would love it if we could have family members head up to the community garden to support with the watering and you can take any produce that you would like from our garden.

The MacKillop Art Exhibition

The MacKillop Art Exhibition is now open. The Exhibition is at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo.

This year's entrants from St Mary's are well worth the journey to check them out. Please head on in, and you can also vote for your favourites until the 1st of December. The exhibition runs for two weeks.

Literacy 3-6

This term, we have been studying the texts "Flood", "Fire" and "Drought" by Jackie French and Bruce Whatley. We looked at the tools used by authors and illustrators to engage their readers and deepen their understanding of what the text is about. Students then wrote a text analysis essay to explain their understanding of the importance of these tools.

Physical Education

For the last few weeks we have been learning about the techniques required to bat, bowl and field in a game of cricket. We have played multiple games in preparation for the Grade 5/6 to head off for Cricket Blast today.

Reflection-

On Friday, 29th November grade 5 and 6 students (with an honorary grade 4 ) headed to Marong braved the heat and humidity to compete in the Loddon Calder Cluster Cricket Blast with other schools from our cluster group. We played three games and won 2 of them. We were thrilled to come out on top in the Inglewood Derby (St Mary's vs Inglewood Primary). Well done to all the students who were respectful, good sportspeople, and did their best on the day. Also thanks to Mr O who brought zoopers doopers to help us through the last game.
