Exciting Sphero Maze Challenge Sparks Creativity and Problem-Solving Skills!

 

For several lessons, our students dove headfirst into the world of robotics and programming with an exciting Sphero Maze Challenge! Armed with their creativity and critical thinking skills, students took on the task of designing and coding their Sphero robots to navigate intricate mazes they created.

 

The challenge began with students sketching their maze designs on paper, ensuring each route was both engaging and solvable. Next came the coding: students used block-based programming to instruct their Sphero robots to navigate through twists, turns, and obstacles. For many, it was their first taste of programming, and they eagerly tackled the trial-and-error process to perfect their commands.

 

Highlights of the Challenge:

  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Students worked in pairs or small groups, combining their ideas to design the most innovative mazes.
  • Creative Designs: From themed mazes featuring castles and treasure hunts to puzzles inspired by video games, the creativity was endless!
  • Technical Skills: Students demonstrated impressive problem-solving abilities, debugging their code to ensure the Sphero navigated smoothly.
  • Engagement and Fun: The room buzzed with excitement as robots zipped through the mazes, sometimes with unexpected detours and laughter.
