End of 2024 News
It is quite unbelievable that we find ourselves at the end of another school year! It has been very successful, with the students and staff are all finishing strongly. Excitingly, we still have most of our final events to come next week.
Year 6 Graduation
On Tuesday 3 December at Adelaide West Uniting Church, Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Brooklyn Park.
Awards Ceremony
On Wednesday 4 December in the Emmaus Performing Arts Centre starting at 8:50am.
Parents of students receiving these significant awards will be notified so they may attend. Unfortunately, due to limited seating, we can only accommodate these additional parents.
If you have been notified, please don’t tell your child that you are coming, as the awards will be a surprise on the day!
Transition to 2025 classes
This week, our students will spend a couple of lessons on Wednesday with their 2025 classmates and their new teacher (you will also receive correspondence from us telling you this same information).
There will always be some tears and some children who come home and say they have no friends. This is not the case, as all children nominate three friends to be with, and we guarantee that they will get one of these friends in their class. We encourage you to use this as an opportunity to build resilience in your child and encourage them that this is a time when they can make additional friends. It is good to remind them that each time you change jobs or even when you get promotions, you can’t always take friends along!
We have very few changes in our teachers in 2025 but for your guidance :
Foundation - Miss Herrmann and Mrs Were
Year 1 - Mrs Dragun (with Mrs Pieterse teaching in that class on a Wednesday)
Year 1 / 2 - Mrs Pitcher
Year 2 - Mrs Houston
Year 3 / 4 - Mrs Kelly, Miss Iengo and Mrs Smith
Year 5 / 6 - Mrs Butler, Mr Dal Santo and Mrs Wicks
PE - Mrs Collins
French - Mrs Winter and Miss Moss
Music - Mrs Ali and Mrs Meinel
Mr Cope, Mr Bloomfield, Mrs North, and I will continue to teach various subjects in our Junior School classrooms.
Our Junior School staff would like to thank you all for partnering with us this year and we pray that the festive season will be a time when you can reflect on the incredible story that Christmas heralds for us, enjoying time with family and friends!

Battle of the Bands
Our South Plympton Year 5/6 students hosted their Battle of the Bands last Thursday in Hollywood-style!
What a phenomenal night of instrumental skill, entertainment and raucous fun.
The audience was greeted with a Hall of Fame entrance, popcorn on arrival and a troop of very excited students.
Congratulations to 'Butlers Boomers', who took home the title of overall champions after winning the most points accumulated throughout the semester.
Only four months ago, these children played their instrument for the first time! Through perseverance, patience and lots of practice, we are so proud of each other them for their achievements and talented performances.
Congratulations and thank you to Nikki Meinel for your passion and commitment in ensuring every child has an opportunity to grow in their music skills and thank you to our amazing Music Tutors: Robin Finlay, Joanne Jefferey and Susie Pettitt for their hard work and support.
Year 6 Business Stalls
The conclusion of our Maths Financial Literacy unit saw our two Year 6 classes create their own businesses and sell (for a profit) their wares to Emmaus students. Their profits from this go to various charities.
This year, the students were highly successful businessmen and women and donated $880 to the charities of their choice!
This enabled the purchase of chickens, a goat, crutches, a plaster cast, a prosthetic limb, money for eye surgery, and money for the Village Co, which supports vulnerable South Australian mothers. It was an incredible effort.
Visit to Vermont
A few of our South Plympton Junior School classes visited the Vermont Estate Retirement Village this week to bring Christmas spirit to the residents.
From singing in a choir to playing the piano and a range of fun games (Oreo Face and Balloon Badminton to name a few), our students certainly hit it off with the locals!
We are so blessed to live right next door to this Estate, visiting residents and inviting them to our community events.
God bless Vermont!
