What a jam packed couple of weeks we have had!

This week the Grade 2s had their Minibeast incursion on Tuesday which was held in the Learning Centre. Many very excited students, and a few nervous ones, arrived to meet Liv, the education leader from 'Wild Action' who was very welcoming and engaging. Liv had brought in  many varied tanks, cages, crates and boxes which drew interest and wonder straight away.

The students were introduced to many varied minibeasts, one at a time, with Liv explaining interesting facts about their habitat, appearance and adaptations plus many other relevant details. The students were invited to pat, touch and hold the animals if they chose to, which added to the excitement. We saw a wide collection including a starfish, millipede, tarantula spider ( thankfully in a jar!), leaf insect, a giant crab and even an owl.

The last animal to be shown was making a lot of noise in a large box throughout the session which both fascinated and intrigued the students who were full of questions of what the creature could be. When Liv finally brought it out, the students were surprised and delighted to see an echidna, who was a bit nervous to be greeted by such enthusiasm, but still allowed the students to have a gentle pat.

We would like to thank Liv for such a fun, informative presentation with such an interesting collection of amazing animals which the students thoroughly enjoyed. Please check out our photos below of our incursion with many of our students holding a variety of animals.

This Thursday and Friday, the skies cleared just in time for the Grade 1s exciting trip to CERES. Students eagerly set off on a mini adventure, hunting for tadpoles and mosquito fish while discovering the different ecosystems that inhabit the water. They wandered the beautiful grounds and used their senses to observe and describe the sights, sounds, and smells around them. Students also enjoyed crafting little bee baths, an activity that connected them to nature in a hands-on way. To top it all off, each student left with a special souvenir - a small seed of ‘Warrigal Greens,’ a native bush food they can plant and grow at home, an.

A massive thank you to the parent helpers who volunteered their time to attend the excursion. Your assistance was truly appreciated.
