Beachside Division Basketball Team
We’d like to congratulate Edie S (5B) for her SENSATIONAL outcome at the SSV State Track & Field Championships on Wednesday this week. Edie had made it through District, Division and then Regional finals to compete at the State Championships this week.
Edie won her heat in the 11y Girls 80m Hurdles, with a brilliant PB time of 12.99 seconds, placing 2nd overall out of the two heats. After these initial heats, the top 10 qualified for the final, which was scheduled for 3.45pm. Unfortunately due to the change in weather which resulted in a patch of lightning, all events were pushed back by an hour and half, resulting in Edie having to wait until around 5.30pm for her final.
To her credit, Edie flew out of the blocks, with an impressively powerful first 3 hurdles, which resulted in a brilliant outcome of crossing 3rd at the finish line! Congratulations Edie - we are all super proud of your fine efforts - to place 3rd in the State is an amazing accomplishment!
It’s raining basketball and successful outcomes at the moment! Today our Senior Girls and Boys HoopTime teams had their Regional tournament at Nunawading Stadium - with BOTH teams making the grand finals for their division! Our boys played a galant game in the grand final, but were defeated 24 - 19 to Our Lady’s, Surrey Hills. Our girls however proved too strong once again, and won their Grand Final against Ashburton PS 14-9.
Both teams have now qualified for State All Star HoopTime and we wish them all the very best.
