Gospel Reflection - Sunday 10th November
Gospel Reading
Mark 12:38-44 (shorter form, Mark 12:41-44)
Jesus notices a poor widow’s offering and commends her great sacrifice.
Family Connection
In reflecting on the Gospel reading where Jesus recognizes the poor widow’s offering, we see a reminder of the value of giving from the heart, no matter the amount. Jesus doesn’t measure her contribution by its size but by the love and sacrifice behind it. This challenges us to think about our own generosity—not only in material terms but in how we give our time, attention, and care to others.
As a family, it’s meaningful to consider the charities we might support and why we’re drawn to them. Maybe we feel called to help those experiencing homelessness or support organisations that assist families in crisis. These choices show what we value as a family and how we want to make a positive difference in the world. When we give, even if it’s a small amount, we’re part of something larger—expressing compassion, hope, and faith. This reflection can inspire us to look for new ways to give, whether through donations or actions, and to see each opportunity as a step toward living out our values with purpose and love.
