From the Classroom

Physical Education

A busy term of Physical Education is underway, and so far, the children have participated in Tee-Ball, Cricket, and Lawn Bowls. I am incredibly proud of their enthusiasm and effort in developing the fundamental skills for each sport and applying them during games.

This week, all students have been focusing on Volleyball fundamentals. They have been practicing the skills of setting and digging the ball with a partner, learning how to apply these techniques in game situations.

A reminder to families that the Toolamba Fun Sports Day will be held on the 16th December.

Grade 5/6 students are well on their way into our term 4 unit called Circuits and Switches. Students have shown huge engagement in the hands-on nature of this unit, and have been working together in small teams to collaborate and problem solve.

Circuits and switches provides students with hands-on opportunities to:

  • construct and represent simple circuits
  • investigate how changing the components of a simple circuits affects how it works
  • explore different sources of energy that may generate electricity
  • examine the role of switches in a simple circuit

In Circuits and Switches, students apply their new learning by planning and conducting an investigation into the function of the components of a simple circuit and designing, making and evaluating a circuit that transforms energy from one form to another.
