Co-Curricular - Junior Sport Stage 3

This Saturday is the final round of winter sports for Junior School. It has been a challenging season with several games and training sessions washed out. Finding a rhythm and form has been difficult, and it is a credit to our boys who have displayed so much resilience and commitment throughout. I wish all our teams the very best for this weekend’s fixtures. Let’s go out and put together one last polished performance, showcase our skills and work as a team. This way, win, lose or draw, we can all walk off the fields with our heads held high.
Please note that after this weekend, all winter sport training will cease for the Junior School. Only athletics will continue training in the mornings.
The last round of Junior School sport also coincides with Back to Breen Day. It would be great to see as many Junior School boys as possible attending and supporting our First XI and First XV. It is a great day out with many Old Boys of the College returning for reunions and developing a great sense of community. If you attend, please make sure to prioritise your own sporting commitment, and all boys should be wearing either the College Supporters’ uniform (black polo) or Winter Uniform (minus the Blue Cap). Times of the First games are listed below:
First XI Football v Oakhill College
10:15 AM - SPC 2
First XV Rugby v Knox Grammar
3:15 PM - Breen Oval
Over the last few weeks of Term 2, all boys participated in fitness testing with our new Head of Athletic Development. Boys interested in getting their report can email Mr McCann to request it.
Having seen the results across the Junior School, there are some areas for concern. There is strong evidence that our boys struggle to use their bodies efficiently, exhibit compromised movement patterns, and collectively have a low fitness level. Off the back of these results, I am happy to announce that the boys in the Junior School will have the opportunity to participate in an Athletic Development Program each Tuesday at Lunch. Please see the attached flyer. Boys will be involved in a progressive program targeting movement awareness and fitness. It is a great opportunity that I would encourage all the boys to take advantage of.
