PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Lindy Burke

It’s certainly been a wet and wintry start to Term 3, and hard to believe we’re already wrapping up another week -and what a week it’s been!

On Monday, our Prep students marked a huge milestone - 100 Days of Prep! Dressed as cheerful centenarians, complete with walking sticks, grey hair, and pearls, they embraced the day with joy, imagination, and plenty of smiles. It was a heart warming celebration and a wonderful reminder of how much they’ve already achieved this year.

On Tuesday, we were thrilled to welcome back our Little Easties as our fabulous transition program continued for our 2026 Prep students. It’s been so lovely to see how much they’ve grown and gained confidence since the start of Term 2. We also welcomed some special guests from Echuca College, who spoke with our senior students about life in secondary school. It was especially meaningful to have some of our former students return and share their experiences — these kinds of connections help inspire confidence and excitement as our students begin thinking about their own future pathways.

On Wednesday, Mr Holmfield proudly led our girls’ football team to the Campaspe Football Tournament. We’re thrilled to share that the girls made it all the way to the grand final! Although 208 came away with the win, our girls displayed incredible skill, sportsmanship, and determination — a fantastic achievement that reflects the effort and spirit of both students and staff.

And on Thursday, our Hands on Learning crew were back in action, delighting staff with their popular HoL $10 lunches. This week’s menu featured juicy beef burgers and a hearty apple crumble — just the thing to warm us up on a chilly winter day. Huge thanks to the team for their hard work and culinary creativity!

Today, we held our first assembly for Term 3, and it was fantastic to welcome everyone back together and celebrate some incredible learning. Alongside our weekly certificates, we also acknowledged some impressive individual NAPLAN growth. It’s so important to recognise and celebrate this progress. A reminder to families that NAPLAN results will be available for collection next week – so stay tuned for updates.

Of course, next week is shaping up to be another action-packed week as well!

On Tuesday, we’ll be waving goodbye to Miss Turner and 18 of our Grade 5/6 students as they head off to the fabulous 9-day Somers Camp. What an incredible opportunity -we can’t wait to hear all about their adventures!

Also on Tuesday, some of our keen Grade 3–6 mathematicians will be participating in the Australian Mathematics Competition. We wish all of our participants all the very best of luck!

On Wednesday, students — including our Little Easties — will be treated to the Meerkat Productions CBCA Book Week incursion. This exciting performance is a fantastic way to build enthusiasm for reading and get everyone thinking about costumes for our Annual Book Week Parade and Book of the Year presentations on Friday 22nd August (Week 5).

But the fun doesn’t stop there! On Thursday, our Level 2 students will be heading off on an excursion to Mrs Grant’s Dairy Farm -a hands-on learning experience we know they’ll love. This excursion is an all-time favourite! We can’t wait to hear all about it!

Anyway, let’s not wish the week away – apparently there is a beautiful sunny weekend predicted for us all to enjoy first. So happy weekend everyone!
