Principal's Message

Welcome back to our Mill Park Heights Community

I hope everyone made the most of the term break and found some time to enjoy each other’s company. Despite the cold and wet weather, there was a great opportunity to be creative indoors. I am pleased to be back onsite and rejoining the team to begin Term 3. I am extremely grateful to Mel Loyd for her exemplary leadership as Acting Principal in semester 1. It is always a sign of a fabulous and cohesive team when a member can step out and the rest of the group continue to thrive and grow. Providing opportunities for others to learn, enhance confidence and make decisions is all part of capacity building. I know you do this with your children daily as parents and carers.

Facilities have played a major role in the school over Term 2 and throughout the break. The portables and surrounding rubbish have now been removed and we are left with the temporary fencing and a lot of mud. We are hoping the get the grounds sprayed with grass seeds in the next few weeks and will attempt to have lawn growing by the end of this term. Our Facilities and OHS team are already planning for options within these spaces, but as always, our budget will be the biggest factor in the changes to this layout. This is an exciting opportunity for us to modify the landscape over time and provide more space for the students to use.

It is with great joy that I highlight the launching of our new school values that occurred on Friday. This launch celebrates our involvement in the Department of Education School Wide Positive Behaviours initiative. I commend the team who have worked tirelessly to lead and drive SWPBS within our school, they have been steadfast in their efforts to ensure this has been such a successful and inclusive launch. While we see so many stories in the media of young people making poor choices within schools and communities, MPHPS aims to be on the front foot in continuing to drive positive values that also support and connect with your own family values. I encourage you to use our new values within your own home as part of your everyday language and conversations. If we work together, we can make a positive impact on this wonderful future generation.

  • Respect – Considering ourselves, others and property
  • Collaboration – Sharing ideas to solve problems and achieve results
  • Perseverance – Working hard and never giving up

Finally, we are now taking 2026 enrolments. I encourage you to remind family and friends to get your forms in Our lovely office team will be more than happy to help you. Please let family or friends know that we are taking applications. This will help us form a defined list of 2026 students who will have access to our Foundation Transition in term 4.

I hope you all have a fabulous fortnight

Cheers Chris
