Health/Wellbeing

As we continue through Term 3, the Wellbeing Team is excited to share reflections on our recent activities, highlight ongoing supports available, and preview upcoming events designed to foster inclusivity, leadership, and student wellbeing.
Reflection on Term 3 Activities
NAIDOC Week Acknowledgment:
NAIDOC Week Acknowledgment: In Week 1 on Tuesday, we proudly acknowledged NAIDOC Week 2025 (6–13 July) during our Junior and Senior assemblies, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. This year’s theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," marks 50 years of honouring Indigenous voices, resilience, and contributions, reflecting on past achievements while inspiring future leaders. Later that afternoon, our Koorie students and Principal Team participated in a powerful Smoking Ceremony led by Nathan Taylor, fostering connection and reflection on Indigenous resilience.
Culture Shift - Student Leadership Program:
We’ve launched a 3-week program with Third Culture, funded by Uniting Social Cohesion Through Education, for our Year 8-12 student leaders. The Culture Shift workshop series deepens understanding of identity, inclusion, and leadership by exploring discrimination, language, intersectionality, and the power of respectful relationships. Through interactive activities and meaningful conversations, students build empathy and confidence to be changemakers, co-designing a project to promote inclusivity at Kambrya College.
Looking Ahead to the Rest of Term 3
Week 4: Bullying No Way Week
At Kambrya College, we proudly support the 2025 Bullying No Way! campaign, a national initiative promoting everyone’s right to feel safe, respected, and included. This year’s theme, Take Action Every Day, reinforces our commitment to fostering positive behaviours, standing against bullying, and celebrating our diverse community.
Our Commitment to Safety and Respect
We strive to create an inclusive environment where:
- All students feel safe and supported
- Diversity is celebrated
- Disrespect, discrimination, and bullying are not tolerated
We promote these values through:
- The Respectful Relationships program, fostering empathy and emotional literacy
- Cultural inclusion strategies, celebrating our multicultural backgrounds
- Recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures through events like NAIDOC Week, Reconciliation Week, and Sorry Day
- Support for LGBTQIA+ inclusion via the Safe Schools initiative
Understanding Bullying
Bullying involves deliberate, repeated behaviours intended to harm, often based on a power imbalance. It can be verbal, physical, social, or online (cyberbullying) and can impact wellbeing, learning, and self-worth. Preventing bullying is essential for a safe learning environment.
How We Can Take Action
We encourage our community to:
- Foster open, respectful conversations
- Report concerning behaviours to trusted staff
- Model kindness, empathy, and inclusion
- Empower students to support peers and speak up safely
Together, we can ensure Kambrya College is a place where every student feels safe and valued. For resources, visit: www.bullyingnoway.gov.au, www.kidshelpline.com.au, www.headspace.org.au/eheadspace, www.yla.org.au, https://au.reachout.com/bullying.
